Ila Elementary School will hold a reception at 3:15 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 1, in the school’s library media center and cafeteria to celebrate Ila’s recognition as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence.
The public is invited to attend.
The Blue Ribbon Schools Program, which recognized six schools in Georgia this year, honors public and private elementary, middle and high schools based on one of two criteria: high performance or improvement. Ila was chosen for being a “high performance” school.
“Although we are personally filled with pride and excitement concerning this coveted award, we recognize that Madison County has six other schools of excellence,” said Ila principal Lynne Jeffers. “We work together in a team effort across the entire system to support each other and produce high student achievement.”
Ila Elementary was recognized earlier this month at an awards ceremony in Washington, D.C.
