Man receives probation for cruelty to children

Other actions filed recently in the office of the Clerk of Superior Court of Madison County include:

•Tammy Marie Brooks, 41, 2207 Commerce Road, Jefferson, was sentenced to one year confinement for driving while license suspended or revoked and giving false information to law officers.

•Walter James Barnes III, 46, Athens, was sentenced to one year confinement for forgery in the first degree. A charge of failure to appear was dismissed.

•Morgan Robert Woods, 55, 2866 Rogers Mill Road, Danielsville, was sentenced to one year confinement for driving while license suspended, weaving over roadway, no tag, no proof of insurance and open container violation. Woods also pleaded guilty to DUI.

•Robbie Lee Gunter, 38, 2879 Hwy. 98W, Danielsville, was sentenced to one year probation and fined $270 carrying a concealed weapon.

•Laura Newton, 27, 13 Jefferson Terrace, Jefferson, was sentenced to one year probation for criminal trespass and battery and fined $1,522.

•Terrance Trance Grant, 35, P.O. Box 278, Comer, was sentenced to five years probation and fined $1,090 for possession of cocaine.
