According to the incident report, an employee of Athens Auto Wrecking told the responding officer that he had spoken with the owner of the vehicle that morning and that he called 911 when he saw the vehicle then come in the gate. Another employee went out to talk with the men to keep them on scene until officers and the victim arrived. The victim stated the vehicle belonged to one of his customers. The owner was contacted and authorized the victim to take the vehicle back with him.
In another arrest, Juan Carlos Rodriguez-Vargas, 23, 478 Ed Coile Road, Hull, was charged with obstruction, disorderly conduct and pedestrian under the influence of alcohol or drugs after an officer found him lying in the road on Hwy. 29 South near Ed Coile Road.
According to the incident report, officer Chad Parr was called to respond to a man standing in the roadway yelling and cussing at cars going by. At 4:40 a.m., he found Vargas lying in the road moving his arms around and yelling, crying and saying he wanted to die. He cursed at the officers and had to be tasered in order to be handcuffed. Officers noted he had a strong smell of alcohol and that his speech was slurred and his eyes bloodshot. His sister arrived and said she had been at a party with him earlier and that he had had a lot to drink. He was checked by EMS and taken to jail.
