Comer man charged with multiple burglaries
A Comer man was arrested recently in connection with a series of burglaries at Colbert businesses.
Piedmont Water Company’s office in Colbert was broken into at least four times, during which copper wiring, a chain saw, framing nailer, skill saw, 300 feet of copper wire and other items were stolen. Air Service on Second Avenue in Colbert was also burglarized, with copper tubing taken.
Bradley Keith Loden, 42, 3334 Cherokee Road, was charged with criminal trespass, theft by receiving stolen property, five counts of burglary, two counts of theft by taking and two counts of entering automobile or other motor vehicle with intent to commit theft or felony. While attempting to serve a warrant at his residence, a four-wheeler and leaf blower reported stolen from Athens-Clarke County were also recovered.
In another arrest, two teens were taken into custody last week after officer Michael Moore was called to Grady Drive in Hull regarding a fight in the road.
Nicky Nicole Scoggins, 19, 32 Whitsel Hollow Road, Comer, was charged with battery and Brandon Wayne Booth, 19, 32 Whitsel Hollow Road, Comer, was charged with obstructing or hindering law enforcement officers.
According to the incident report, Moore arrived to find the victim’s mother who said that a girl (Scoggins) jumped on her daughter after she got off the school bus. The victim said that she and Scoggins got into an argument a couple of days before and that when she asked her what the problem was, she jumped on her. The victim had marks on her face and neck. Scoggins and Booth walked to the scene from an address up the road and Scoggins began yelling at the victim and Moore stated that he told her to “shut her mouth” but she kept yelling. As he went to place handcuffs on Scoggins, Booth allegedly got between them and attempted to stop Moore from cuffing her. When Moore asked him to step away he wouldn’t and instead took his arm and hit Moore’s arm trying to push it away. Moore then pushed him away and after cuffing Scoggins, placed Booth, who continued to resist, in handcuffs.
