Two people were killed and three people injured in a two-vehicle accident around 5:15 p.m. on Hwy. 29 in Clarke County Sunday.
According to a report from the Athens-Clarke County Police Department, Gaydell Edwards Kesler, 66, Hull, was driving a 2009 Honda Accord, south on Hwy 29 N. when Barry Lynn Dailey, 46, Winterville, who was driving north in a 1996 Mitsubishi Galant, crossed the median and struck the Accord head on.
After impact the Dailey vehicle caught fire. Citizens were able to remove the driver from the vehicle but were unable to remove his passenger, Bud Eugene Dailey, 51, Athens. Both Daileys died at the scene.
Kesler and her passengers, Shirley Inez Rogers, 60, Hull, and Allie Marie Faulkner, 10, Hull, were transported to Athens Regional Medical Center.
No charges have been filed as the investigation continues.
