STAR student, teacher recognized by Chamber

Marcotte told chamber members he is proud to have been born and raised in Madison County. He has been accepted to the University of Georgia, but would like to attend New York University or NYC Columbia University and plans a career in politics. Of his choice as Wilkes for his STAR teacher, Marcotte said he had found him dedicated to his career and to his subject matter. He said Wilkes, who has not only taught Marcotte language arts during his senior year, has also served as his academic coach and as his soccer coach for four years, said Marcotte is one of his favorite students, exhibiting a maturity beyond the high school level.

“He thinks with depth and knowledge – he’s a critical thinker,” Wilkes said, adding that that he listens to different perspectives, is independent and makes good decisions.

“I’m proud of him that he stands strong in his beliefs,” he said.

Marcotte is the son of Jennifer Bond Schildknecht of Danielsville.
