Woman assaulted for refusing to give boyfriend drug money
Warrants have been issued for a man who allegedly struck a woman in the face when she refused to give him money for crack cocaine.
According to the incident report, officer Michael Moore was summoned to Garnett Ward Road last week following a domestic dispute report. The victim, who was bleeding from the mouth, reported that the man she lives with had struck her with his closed fist and pushed her through a door after she refused to give him money for crack. She was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital for her injuries.
Other incidents on file at the sheriff’s office recently included:
•A suspicious person was reported last week on Sewell Mill Road, when callers said that a woman was knocking on doors, incoherent and appearing to have mental issues. She was reported to be acting as if she was talking to someone and crying and screaming out at times. The woman finally admitted to EMTs on the scene that she had taken “meth” the night before. She requested to be transported to ARMC.
•Criminal trespass was reported on East Jones Chapel Road last week. A man there said that someone had damaged his vehicles by kicking the door and leaving a dent in it. He named three suspects who he said had been at the residence at the time.
•A woman on Hickory Hills Road reported that someone had stolen her prescription medication.
•A 20–year old man and his 17-year old sister were involved in a domestic dispute that turned physical last week on Gunnell Road, after the man allegedly told his sister she had to move out. According to the incident report, the girl was talking with her mother on the phone and they began to argue again. He told her if she didn’t quit yelling he was going to slap her and she reportedly said “well, do it then,” at which point he slapped her across the face, knocked her to the ground and punched her. She also said he knocked her in the head and choked her. She said she did strike him also, but only in self-defense. Her brother told officers he had just gotten out of the hospital and come home to learn that his sister had been “disrespecting his friends” and he told her she had to leave. He said his sister struck him first and “kicked him in the n…” A witness at the scene said she was in the bedroom when the argument started and came in to find the pair wrestling in the floor. Neither party wished to prosecute and the girl was taken to her mother’s for the night.
•A sobriety checkpoint was set up along Fortson Store Road last week. Forty-nine cars came through the checkpoint, and four arrests were made; two for DUI, one unlicensed driver and one offender warrant.
•A driver checkpoint was held on Old Danielsville Road last week. Thirteen cars came through the checkpoint and one DUI arrest was made.
•Burglary was reported on Hardman Morris Road last week. A well house belonging to Georgia Water and Well Company was broken into by kicking in the door. Brass fittings were missing.
•A student became sick at the high school’s alternative school last week after allegedly taking some type of pill given him by another student, who was charged as a juvenile for possession of drugs in a drug-free school zone. According to the incident report, several students told a teacher that another student had given this student a pill before he became sick. The suspect admitted that he did bring a prescription pill he brought from his house and had given it to the other student, who later became ill.
•A driver safety checkpoint was performed at the intersection of Colbert-Smithonia and B. Gaulding Russell Road last week, resulting in 58 cars being checked, with five citations issued and two arrests.
•Bamboo was reportedly stolen from a location on Della Slayton Road last week. The suspect was contacted and advised not to take any more of the bamboo.
•A man came to the sheriff’s office to report that someone used his identity fraudulently to obtain electricity at a Comer residence.
•A woman on Sherwood Circle in Danielsville reported that someone cut two of the tires on her Chevrolet Blazer sometime the previous night. She had no suspects in mind, except for her boyfriend’s brother, who she said had lived with them for a while until she had to kick him out of the residence the first of the year.
•R.A.I.D. K-9 officials found a bag of marijuana in a student’s gym coat in the high school cafeteria during a random drug search. The student was charged and released to his father.
•A man came to the sheriff’s office last week to report he has had numerous thefts at his residence on Drake Woods Road from late January to mid-February, including having gas stolen from several vehicles he owns, rims and tires stolen from near a shop and a tire from the rear side of one of the vehicles. The location was placed on the sheriff’s office house check log.
•A man on Jack Sharp Road reported that his TV was stolen from a residence he is in the process of moving out of.
•A woman on Grady Drive reported that someone had stolen the copper wiring out of an a/c unit in a mobile home park there.
•Officer Jason Ring responded to the call of a woman being run over by a vehicle on Hudson River Church Road last week. When Ring arrived, he found the victim being examined by EMS staff for injuries to her right side. Her husband told Ring that they were trying to put transmission fluid in their vehicle and that his wife was supposed to have placed the vehicle in drive with the emergency brake on while they were putting in the fluid with the hood up, but that she placed it in neutral instead. He said he went to the driver’s side door and standing outside of it, placed the vehicle in drive, at which point it began to move forward with her in front of it, pinning her against it and the house. Her husband then got in the vehicle and backed it up off of her. She was taken to ARMC for her injuries.
•Power tools were reportedly stolen from a workshop on Shoal Creek Road over the last few months. The owners stated that a man had been staying with them in recent weeks and was now in another county in custody for theft of wire.
•Burglary of a vacant home was reported on Childers Road last week by Deputy Chris Guest, who was performing a house check on the residence. The house was found to be ransacked and wire was missing from a heat pump outside the home. The owner, who was out of state at the time, was notified and was told he would need to provide a list of all items that were taken from the home.
•Three chicken houses and a generator room were reportedly broken into on Jot-Em-Down Road last week and copper wiring stolen.
•Harassing phone calls were reported on Pine Street in Ila. A woman there told an officer that a man had been calling her and texting her after being told numerous times not to call her.
