Women arrested after fight over spanking
Two women were arrested recently after they allegedly got into a fight over the spanking of a small child.
Connie Lynn Dills, 40, and Jhontae Lanee Sanders, 22, both of 241 Grady Drive, Lot 11, Hull, were each charged with one count of battery (FVA).
According to the incident report, Sanders said Dills was cooking when Sanders disciplined one of her small sons by “whipping him on the butt” after he pushed his little brother several times after she told him to stop. Dills then left the kitchen to comfort the little boy, and Sanders told her that her son was misbehaving because she spoiled him. She said Dills began to curse at her and “shoved her finger into her upper lip” starting a fistfight. Sanders had visible scratch marks on her right arm and a red mark on her upper lip and Dills had a bloody nose and a mild swelling to her upper lip. A witness at the scene said both women had “talked bad” about each other all day.
In another arrest, a Colbert man was taken to jail following an argument with his brother over $5.
Aquino Jemorris Gantt, 25, 117 Madison Avenue, Colbert, was charged with one count of criminal trespass. According to the incident report, Gantt gave his brother $5 to take him to the east side of Athens, but when they could not get the people he was going to see on the phone, they headed back home. At that point, Gantt wanted his money back, but his brother refused to give it to him. They began to argue and push and shove each other going down the road. Once back at the apartment, the fight escalated and the brother went into the house to talk with their mother about the problem. Gantt meanwhile got out of the car and found a piece of plywood. His brother, thinking he was going to be attacked, brought a kitchen knife out of the house with him. Seeing that he could get away, he dropped the knife and got in the car, but Gant tried to get the door open. As the brother continued to back out of the driveway, Gantt threw the piece of plywood, striking the hood and windshield of the car. The brother then called 911 for assistance.
