A Hull man was charged with child molestation recently after a woman came to the sheriff’s office to report that her 4-year-old daughter had been molested.
Enrique Solis Cortes, 27, 745 Hannah Heights was arrested.
In another arrest, drugs were found in a Colbert man’s home last week when officers showed up to arrest him and his wife on theft by taking warrants.
Timothy Olin Porterfield, 45, 1008 Diamond Hill Neese Road, was charged with theft by taking, probation violation, illegal possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug-related objects.
According to the incident report, after Porterfield’s arrest, a search of the home for his wife produced various quantities of methamphetamine, marijuana, illegal prescription pills and drug paraphernalia.
His wife, Ginny Porterfield, 35, of the same address, was not arrested at the time, but she was later arrested on one count of theft by taking.
In a third arrest, an Athens man, Sandteek Jerome Barrow, 22, 199 Lavender Road, was charged with battery and two counts of cruelty to children in the third degree after he allegedly slapped a woman in the face in front of some children, making her nose bleed and busting her lip.

•Michael Charles Swilling, 24, 209 Osley Mill Lane, Carlton, was charged with possession of an open alcohol container, failure to obey stop sign and driving without a license after he failed to stop at a stop sign while officers were directing traffic during an accident. According to the report, Swilling was unlicensed and traveling with two open beer cans in his car. He also had two outstanding warrants from Elbert and Clarke counties.
