Houseguest threatens to kill sister, others
Terroristic threats and acts were reported in Morningside Mobile Home Park on Hwy. 106 South recently after woman there said a man who had been staying with her for the past few days had threatened his sister earlier in the week with a large hunting knife, saying “I’ll slit your throat.”
That day, she said that she and her kids were in the house on the couch when he came in and allegedly began threatening to kill them. She called 9-1-1 and told responding officers she wanted him to leave the residence and not return. In the meantime, the suspect arrived at the scene with his mother and denied making the threats. His mother said she was taking him home and would come back later for his clothing. Both women that the suspect allegedly threatened were advised of the warrant and TPO process.
Other incidents on file at the sheriff’s office included:
•A man on Horace Reed Road reported that his rental property had been damaged. He said after the latest renter left he came to inspect the property and found that the electric stove and refrigerator were missing and that a garage apartment had been gutted, with the walls and flooring removed and left lying on the porch.
•A woman on Noble Road reported that she was in her bedroom watching TV when she heard a noise and looked out her window to see someone run away from her house into the woods. She said that morning she found one of her lawn chairs had been moved to her bedroom window. She said she believed the intruder was trying to steal her window air conditioner or get into her house. She asked for extra nighttime patrol in her area.
•Someone apparently tried to break into a vacant rental home on Charlie Bolton Road last week by damaging the door.
•A man reported that someone took his boat from behind his residence on Kincaid Cemetery Road.
•A man on Hannah Creek Church Road reported that he thinks his nephew stole a latch system from the tailgate of his Toyota truck last week. He said he suspects his nephew because his truck needed a tailgate latch. He also said he did not wish to pursue criminal charges.
•A man came to the high school to report that his daughter’s iPod had allegedly been stolen from her book bag while she was at track practice.
•A man on Sorrow Patterson Road came to the sheriff’s office to report that someone had fraudulently charged $55 to his Athens First bank account at a Walmart in Massachusetts.
•A woman on Hannah’s Creek Church Road reported that her daughter slapped her in the face during an argument over damage done to the ramp in front of her house by the victim’s son. The victim asked her daughter to leave. When the officer arrived the daughter was packing her things into her vehicle and the officer explained the magistrate court process to the victim.
•A female student told the school resource officer that her iPod and wallet with $10 and driver’s permit in it had been stolen from her purse during gym class. The purse was found in a trashcan in the boy’s restroom.
•Harassing phone calls were reported on Glenn Carrie Road. The complainant told an officer that a man keeps calling asking for items he left at the residence while he was incarcerated. The complainant said the man had picked up his vehicle, but that the rest of his belongings were believed to belong to the complainant’s granddaughter, who also (he believes) has a child by the man. The complainant said he had asked the man to prove ownership of the items before he turns them over to him, but that the man keeps calling the house in spite of being asked to stop.
•Harassing phone calls were reported by a woman on Jot-Em-Down Road who said a man she has known for only one week had been calling and messaging her more than 30 times. She said she was in fear for her safety because he wouldn’t leave her alone. The responding officer spoke with the man by phone and told that the victim did not wish to speak to him anymore and he stated that he understood. She was explained the TPO and warrant process.
•A man on Wrigley Court reported that someone has used his Athens First debit card number for six fraudulent transactions in Atlanta and Duluth.
•A woman on Rose Hill Drive reported that her two grandchildren had been involved in a fight with each other.
•A man on Waggoner’s Grove Church Road reported that someone had stolen batteries from his Ford tractor and his spreader truck, both parked in a barn at his residence. He also said he had had a dirt bike stolen from the same location previously.
•A male student at Madison County Middle School allegedly attacked another male student in the cafeteria last week. School resource officer Mark Jerome noted that the attack was unprovoked and that after the offender was separated from his victim and restrained he made several threatening statements to teachers and staff such as “I will kill you.” The offender had to be physically restrained to keep him from assaulting staff and other students. Jerome noted that he was recently charged with assaulting another student in the middle school gym locker room. He was transported to the jail where he was released to his mother, who was informed that juvenile court would contact them about a court date and that he needed to be enrolled in anger management counseling, His mother reported that he was already enrolled. She also stated that she has a hard time managing him and that he curses at her and “pretty much does as he wants to.” The mother was advised to contact the middle school about a tribunal process. A juvenile complaint form was filled out charging the boy with disrupting public school, simple battery, terroristic threats and acts and unruliness towards his mother.

A man there said he had contacted a man named Steven who owed him some money, then began receiving text messages from a man named Levi, who called him and told him to stop calling Steven so much. He gave his address to Levi, so Steven could mail him the money, after which Levi reportedly told him that “you made a mistake giving me your address, I’m gonna pay you a visit.”
•A woman on Hwy. 106 South reported that she believes her husband, who she has a TPO against, had stolen her medication.
•A man on Old Church Road reported that his 2006 Ford F-150 had been damaged by his ex-girlfriend and would not return it to him. He said she had poured bleach over the entire inside of his truck and sugar in the gas tank. He said the rear passenger side tire was also flattened. He had since found the truck on his road and had it towed. He showed the responding officer text messages from his ex-girlfriend that stated that damage would be done to his truck and that it would be found on a back road.
•Burglary was reported on Hwy. 172 after a man reported that someone had stolen over 800 feet of copper wire and light fixtures from two of his chicken houses.
•A man on Colbert-Danielsville Road reported that someone had taken decals off the side of his truck.
•A woman on Belhaven Lane reported that her friend had told her that he wanted to shoot himself. He then reportedly ran into the woods and she could not locate him. The responding officer traveled to the friend’s home on Norwood Lane and spoke to his mother, who said she was not concerned about her son because he “jokes all the time.” A short time later, he was located on Belhaven Lane and taken back to his mother’s residence. He admitted to making the statement, but said that he did not mean it and that he did not want to harm himself.
•Aggravated assault was reported following a party on Farm Road. A woman on Hwy. 72 East told officers that she had been hit in the chest with a knife during a party on Farm Road, but that her wound was superficial. She said the person who stabbed her had apologized and sent a message through her cousin that he did not mean to hurt her. She said she did not want to press charges. An officer had responded earlier to the incident, it was noted, and had observed a large crowd outside with some verbal and physical fighting. The crowd had calmed down, according to the report, and everyone said no one was harmed, though someone did suffer chest pains “not due to trauma.” That person was treated at the scene by EMS.
•A man went to the sheriff’s office to report that his First Citizens debit card had been used fraudulently in San Diego CA in the amount of $126.
•A counterfeit $20 bill was reported by a clerk at the Golden Pantry in Danielsville.
•A pistol was reportedly stolen from the glove box of a Ford Explorer parked at a home on Kingston Road.
•Batteries, a space heater and miscellaneous sockets and wrenches were stolen from Backyard to Nature on Hwy. 72 West. The perpetrator(s) also reportedly broke the key off in a John Deere 260 loader.
•A handgun was allegedly stolen from a vehicle on Hwy. 172.
•Someone burglarized a home on Griffeth Road last week by breaking several windows out. The thieves stole an antique flintlock musket and flintlock pistol that were knocked off the wall in the living room by reaching through one of the broken windows.
•Financial transaction card fraud was reported on Ashley Drive last week when someone came to the sheriff’s office to report that their Pinnacle Bank debit card had been used fraudulently in North Carolina.
•Battery was reported on Jot-Em-Down Road after deputies were summoned to a domestic dispute. According to the incident report, the homeowner said his daughter’s ex-boyfriend had been advised not to come on the property and that he had met him at the end of the driveway to stop him. The boyfriend had continued onto his property anyway, so he said he hit him after he started trouble. The boyfriend then went to the sheriff’s office to report that he had been struck in the lower lip. The officer noted that his lower lip was bleeding and questioned him about why he continued onto the property after being told to stay away. He denied at first that he had been told to stay away, but then admitted he was told to stay off the property. He was given a criminal trespass warning for the property and informed of the warrant process if he wished to attempt to prosecute the landowner for the assault.
•Four guns and a Wii were reported missing from a home following a burglary on Poss Road. A desktop computer was found lying on the floor where someone had apparently attempted to remove it.
•A woman on Applebaum Way reported that her First Citizen’s bank account had been used fraudulently in Raleigh, N.C.
•A Freshman Academy student was charged with possession of marijuana after school officials discovered that someone had been smoking marijuana in the boys’ restroom. The sheriff’s office K-9 unit was called in to investigate and marijuana was located where a lone back pack had been sitting, wrapped in paper with handwriting that matched samples in the suspect student’s backpack.
•Identity theft was reported by someone on Manley Martin Road last week after she said she received a phone call from a collection agency saying she owes $839 on a T-Mobile cell phone account.
•A woman on Shoal Creek Road reported that someone had poured sugar into the gas tank of her vehicle while it was parked in her yard. Sugar was found around the vehicle and inside the tank. The woman stated she suspects her brother-in-law is to blame for the damage.
•A missing man was reported on Stoyle Hattaway Road after he was dropped off by his landlord’s caretaker. The man’s mother said her son is schizophrenia and takes medication, but that the medication had worn off.
•Simple battery was reported on Sandy Springs Road after two brothers allegedly got into a shoving match. Neither wanted to press charges.
•A Chevrolet Astro van used as a farm vehicle and an air compressor located inside a chicken house on Gunnell Road were reportedly stolen.
