Madison County woman reports threatening e-mail
A woman on Brush Creek Road reported that she received an e-mail from someone who told her he had been hired to kill her.
She provided the name of the person in the e-mail, who told her that “in lieu of killing her, she could pay him $5,000 and he would not follow through with the killing.” The e-mail also instructed her to pay $2,000 up front, with the remainder due at a later date. She was also instructed not to tell anyone and to stay indoors after 7:30 p.m. She was told to contact the sheriff’s office if she received any more threats.
In another incident, four people were arrested last week following a fight in Potts Mobile Home Park on Hwy. 29 South.
Zachariah Levi Ehrmentraut, 19, 7070 Hwy. 29 South, Lot 5, Hull; Jeffery Ray Morris, 50, 7070 Hwy. 29 South, Lot 5, Hull; Noel Ehrmentraut Morris, 35, 7070 Hwy. 29 South, Lot 5, Hull, and Claude Edward Turner, 39, 7070 Hwy. 29 South, Lot 2, Danielsville, were each charged with one count of affray.
According to the incident report officers were summoned to the park regarding injuries from a fight. Once on scene, Turner told the officers that three people from a nearby lot walked towards him as he was getting out of his car with his child. He handed the child to his wife and the trio then allegedly jumped on him. Noel Morris and Turner were treated at the scene for their injuries and warrants were issued for all four participants.
FINANCIAL TRANSACTION CARD FRAUD
At least 10 incidents of fraud using debit cards were reported to the sheriff’s office this past week. They included:
•A woman on Sam Groves Street reported that someone had used her First Citizen’s debit card at General Market in Abu Dhabi fraudulently for hundreds of dollars worth of purchases.
•A woman went to the sheriff’s office to report that someone had used her debit card fraudulently for numerous purchases in Winder, Watkinsville, Bogart and Hull.
•The county clerk reported that someone made a fraudulent purchase on the county credit card for $458.84.
•A man on Williams Wilson Road reported that someone used his debit card number to make numerous fraudulent charges to clothing retailers in the total amount of over $1,765.
•A woman at the middle school reported that someone that she had been contacted by First Citizens Bank about a fraudulent charge on her credit card in North Carolina in the amount of $89.50.
•A woman went to the sheriff’s office to report that her debit card with Pinnacle Bank had been used for eight fraudulent purchases totaling $360.
•A man in a personal care home on Hwy. 72 West reported that someone used his debit card fraudulently, emptying his bank account. There were approximately 50 transactions on the card totaling about $1,500.
•A man on Fred Goss Road reported that someone in Texas used his debit card to pay for a $110 cell phone bill that was not his.
•A woman came to the sheriff’s office to report that her debit card had been used fraudulently for four $106 purchases at a Target in Columbus.
•A woman on Paoli Road reported that her First Citizen’s debit card had been used fraudulently at a Walmart in Florida for $105.
OTHER INCIDENTS
•A man on Colbert School Road reported that someone had broken out the passenger side window of his 1998 Toyota Camry and stolen his Sony iPod Touch phone.
•Someone reportedly vandalized Danielsville Baptist Church by spray-painting a smiley face on the west side of the church in white paint.
•Someone entered the Weyerhaueser plant building in Colbert and allegedly attempted to steal more than $30,000 of tools, copper wiring and electronics, which were found in a buggy near a door. A burglar alarm alerted 9-1-1 to the theft in progress. The plant manager later discovered that the control for the alarm system was also missing.
•A woman on Amberly Drive reported $200 worth of coins had been stolen from her gun safe.
•Wiring was allegedly stolen from a vacant home on Wilkes Street in Ila.
•Copper tubing and power wire were allegedly stolen overnight from Gina Belle’s Café on Hwy. 98.
•A woman on Lucky Jones Road reported that a pressure washer, chainsaw and compressor were stolen from her garage.
•A woman on Hudson Rivers Church Road reported that a man she does not know, who appeared intoxicated, had called her residence 11 times between 3 and 4 a.m.
•An officer reportedly used his service weapon to put down a horse that had been struck by a minivan on Neese Commerce Road.
•Guns were reportedly stolen from a home on Sandy Springs Road while the homeowners were away.
•A man on Forest Lane reported that his 1999 Dodge Caravan had been stolen from his yard. The vehicle was not driveable as its engine, transmission and wheels had already been removed, according to the report. A neighbor reported that he spotted the vehicle on rollback trailer being driven through Colbert.
•A woman on Reese Lane reported that she has been receiving numerous phone calls from her ex-boyfriend. She stated that he is an abusive person and that’s why she ended the relationship. She was explained the warrant and TPO process.
•A woman on Wesley Chapel Road reported that a cousin allegedly touched her juvenile daughter inappropriately in a clubhouse behind their residence.
•An officer met with a woman in the parking lot of Tiny Town Grocery in Carlton to report that her boyfriend had beaten her up at his grandparents’ residence on Paoli Road where they had been staying after she gave two people a ride to another location while he was asleep. She said he choked her, hit her in the face and refused to let her leave the yard, striking her car with a tire. No marks were found on her person at the time of the report.
•A woman on Hardman Morris Road reported that someone had stolen some of her prescription medication while she was asleep in a chair in the living room. She named two suspects who were also at the residence at the time.
•A man on Bishop Carey Road reported that he woke to find a white male about six-feet tall standing by his bed going through his wallet. When he yelled at the man, he ran. No signs of forced entry could be found, though the victim said he locked the doors when he went to bed. Nothing was reported missing.
•Burglary was reported on Hardman Morris Road after a man came home to find his home broken into and ransacked. Nothing appeared to have been stolen and the homeowner said he believes someone he knows was looking for prescription pain medications.

She told the officer that when she arrived for a teacher conference the teacher allegedly told her that she believes the child would be better off with the father because she (mother) was unstable at the time. She said that the child’s father had taken the child and left the school. Though both parents have joint custody, the report stated the mother has primary custody. The mother agreed to let the child stay with their father for the evening and the officer told her to contact her attorney and the school board the following day.
•Battery was reported on Piedmont Road after a man said he went to pick up his children at his ex-girlfriend’s house and became involved in a physical altercation with a 19-year-old woman known only to him as “Shady,” the cousin of his ex-girlfriend. According to the man, he and Shady began to argue over how money is spent on his children. The argument turned physical when Shady began to push, kick and then strike him in the face with her fist. He said the altercation took place in front of his daughters. An officer went to the incident location in an attempt to make contact with Shady, though the victim was unsure whether he wanted to press charges or not.
•A missing person was reported on Glenn Carrie Road.
•Forgery in the first degree was reported on Long Peoples Road after a woman went to the sheriff’s office to report a forged check involving a scam on Craigslist.
•A woman on Scogin Road reported that her husband hit her on the arm leaving bruises during an argument over his mother. She was advised of the warrant and TPO process.
