Couple arrested following domestic dispute
A man and woman were arrested recently after deputies were summoned to a “possible domestic dispute and the offender allegedly had a gun” on Edgewood Drive at Hwy. 98. Kelly Beth Baddeley, 28, 55 Edgewood Drive, Danielsville, was charged with obstruction and false statements or writings, conceal facts or fraudulent documents and Roger Eugene Bray Jr., 32, of 629 Jim Davis Road, Nicholson, was charged with obstruction.
According to the incident report, the first officer on the scene reportedly saw a white male run from the scene. All Baddeley would tell officers was that his name was “Josh.” Another officer reportedly found Bray hiding from officers in the bushes. No firearm was found.
Other incidents on file at the sheriff’s office last week included:
•The sheriff’s office K-9 officer was sent to the Madison County alternative school after a teacher told the school resource officer that he suspected several students were in possession of marijuana. A search while students were at lunch without their jackets and book bags produced a bag of marijuana at an empty seat in the classroom.
•Financial transaction card fraud was reported by a man who went to the sheriff’s office to report a $1,400 fraudulent charge to his GE Money Bank card while he was at Emory Hospital in Atlanta.
•A woman on Hwy. 29 South reported that her son was missing from a home he shared with his brother. She said her son last contacted her from a pay phone at a Kroger store and that his brother has not seen or heard from him. She stated she is concerned for his safety as he had never done anything like this before. He was entered on the missing persons’ list.
•Tools and copper wire were allegedly stolen from a chicken house on Coile Road last week.
•A man on George Washington Avenue reported that someone had taken his Zanax, roxycodone and methadone from the dash of his truck.
•A man on Cedar Lane reported that a co-worker took his Jeep CJ7 for two weeks to work on it and will not return it. He said he paid the man for the original price for the planned repairs but that he now wants more money, is driving the vehicle as his own and refuses to return it. The vehicle was listed as stolen.
•A woman on Mae Drive reported that someone shot the family dog while it was outside with her son while he was playing. She said her son was approximately 10 to 15 feet from the dog and he heard a gun shot and saw the dog fall to the ground along the woodline. She had been unable to find out from her neighbors who shot the dog.
•A woman on Osley Mill Drive reported that her son has become increasingly unruly and has a problem stealing items from other family members in the household, primarily their cell phones, using them to make calls and send texts. He has also allegedly sent inappropriate texts and pictures to girls he knows. Parents were instructed to contact the juvenile court system to make a complaint, since he already has a pending case involving a victim he still makes contact with.
•Harassing phone calls were reported on Covey Drive after victims stated their brother-in-law called their phones and left messages that he would “punch them in the face if they showed up on his property.” The complainants stated it is mostly due to a family issue over property and money. Both were advised to contact magistrate court if the problem continues.
•Battery was reported at the Chicken Express in Danielsville during a fight between two juvenile females that involved an incident that had happened earlier at the high school. According to the victim, they agreed to meet at the restaurant to “settle it in a fight.” The victim stated she arrived and before she could get out of her vehicle the offender attacked her causing wounds to her head and face. Witnesses said they believed the victim passed out and fell onto the asphalt and struck her head. The victim was taken to ARMC for her injuries and the offender was released to her mother, who said she didn’t know what to do with her daughter’s behavior as of late. She was advised her daughter could also be charged with being unruly and that the juvenile court system would contact her with a court date.
•A man on Old Kincaid Road reported that someone stole chairs from his yard during the night, along with some tiki torches and yard lights.
•A gold Chevrolet Celebrity was reportedly left abandoned at the stop sign of Fleeman Brown Road and was towed.
•A man on Virginia Lane reported that someone had broken into his car by breaking the passenger side front window and stolen several items.
•A juvenile male was found trying to sell marijuana on school grounds at the high school. School resource officer Mark Jerome and the principal took the student to the office where the student allegedly produced a bag of marijuana from one of his tennis shoes. He was taken to the sheriff’s office and released to his grandfather pending a juvenile court date.
•A man on Ingram Hancock Road reported that someone had stolen two 4-wheelers and hunting equipment from his camper in the woods. The 4-wheelers were valued at $2,000 each and the equipment was valued at $500.
•A man on Paoli Road reported that someone stole his debit card and an Xbox 360 game console from his unlocked vehicle.
•A woman on Neese Commerce Road went to the sheriff’s office to report that her First Citizen’s debit card had been used fraudulently at a couple of locations in Maryland.
•A couple on Beecher Hill Road reported that their USAA Mastercard number had been used fraudulently in Kentucky and Wyoming.
•Criminal trespass was reported on Easy Street last week after an officer was summoned to a domestic call. The woman there said that her male friend had come to her house with a six-pack of beer and that the two had gone out on the front porch to drink it. Her friend allegedly then got mad about her drinking and threw her beer bottle, breaking it and threatened to break her vehicle’s windshield. He was told to leave and he did. Later that day, he returned and called the officer back to the scene because he found his clothing lying on the bed in the bedroom with some of them cut and ripped. The woman said he did the damage himself and had done it in the past and tried to blame her. The man then left the home again and said he would call a deputy when he came back to get his things. Both were explained the warrant process.
•Wiring was reportedly stolen from a chicken house on Jot-Em-Down Road.
•Copper wiring was allegedly stolen from underneath a home on Ashley Drive.
•A man on Pine Valley Farm Road reported that his son had been bitten by a black and white dog while out walking. The dog’s owners were given a citation by an animal control officer.
•A woman on Childers Road reported that she was receiving harassing text messages from her sister on a daily basis wanting her to meet up with her to fight. The woman said her sister has had a mental breakdown and needs help. She was explained the TPO process and two-party affidavit process through the court system.
•An officer was dispatched to Hwy. 72 at Cooper Road last week to a report of an SUV parked on the train tracks between Cooper Road and Sims Kidd Road and a white male walking along the tracks. When the officer made contact with the man, he found him extremely disoriented, stating he got stuck in a driveway. His wife was contacted and she informed the responding officers that her husband is suffering from dementia. The vehicle and was removed from the tracks and the driver was turned over to his wife.
•Copper wiring, ladders and other items were taken from a vacant home on Johnny McElroy Road.
•A woman on Chandler Road reported that her First Citizen’s Visa debit card had been compromised.
•Someone reportedly stole copper from the gas tank at the bathrooms at LZ Friendly on Johnny McElroy Road.
•A man on Jot-Em-Down Road reported that he thinks his live-in girlfriend who he has a child with stole $27 that he had hidden under the carpet in his bedroom. The woman and child said they did not take the money and did not know it was there. They said they have been depending on “the church” for assistance with their bills.
•A woman on Transco Road came to the sheriff’s office to report that her debit card had been used fraudulently in Florida at two locations.
•Officers were summoned to a Cliff Griffeth Road residence last week in reference to a domestic dispute. The woman there said she and her fiancé had gotten into an argument because he yelled at her about not doing anything around the house. She stated he grabbed her and pulled her hair and also threatened her with a shovel, though her fiance’ denied the argument was physical. She was explained the warrant process and referred to magistrate court.
•Simple assault was reported on Hwy. 98 East after a man reported that his wife had slapped him in the face. The woman said they were arguing and his mother told her to leave and her husband grabbed her arm so she slapped him. She was in the process of packing her bags to leave for the night when the officer arrived.
•A woman on Wildcat Bridge Road reported that she and her boyfriend have been fighting for a few months and that he had lately become physical with her. He also stated that she had become physical with him during arguments. The day before they got into a heated argument and she left, but when she returned in the morning she said she found some of her clothes out on the porch and some of her medication spilled on the porch. The officer explained to both parties that they could not put each other’s belongings out into the yard.
•A gold 2001 Ford F-250 truck was reportedly stolen from a driveway on Hwy. 29 South last week.
•A woman on Allen Road reported that her roommate had taken her vehicle without her permission. The roommate was later found in the Clarke County jail on a DUI charge and the vehicle was recovered.
