Teen killed in lawnmower accident

A 14-year old boy was killed Friday afternoon while mowing grass at this father’s home on Spratlin Mill Road.

According to Madison County coroner Michelle Cleveland, Tyler Moon, an eighth grader at Madison County Middle School, was riding a lawn mower on the right-of-way along Spratlin Mill when the mower slipped on some soft dirt and slid, overturning on him.

Moon died at the scene.

He is the son of Mike Moon, a Hull volunteer firefighter, and Lee Burroughs, a teacher at Madison County High School.

Moon also has a sister and a step-sister, according to Cleveland.

Lord and Stephens, Danielsville, is in charge of arrangements.

Cleveland said a visitation service will be held Monday (April 11) at 4 p.m., followed by the funeral on Tuesday, also at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park in Athens.

Tyler was an amazing guy, and anyone will agree that he did not deserve this in any way.. Madison County is going to be entirely different, for the students & the Moon/Burroughs family.Please pray for everyone who's life was touched by Tyler. We already miss him more than anything, it's hardly bearable. We love you Fort,

Tyler Moon is the son,of my cousin Mikey Moon.Heartbroken, and so very,very sad.Words cannot express the sadness I and my mother,Mike's aunt feel.We just cried in horror and disbelief.Mikey you and our extended family are in our thoughts more than you know.Autie Trixi,we are so sorry for you and know your heart is broken.Please know that we miss you all and LOVE ALL.Lee,God Bless you and except our condolences.With much LOVE ------Your cousin Trixi and your Auntie April 13, 2011.
