Repairing the bridge on Sam Bruce Road could cost between $180,000 and $250,000, depending on what type of structure is built.
County commissioner John Pethel is pushing to get the bridge repaired, following a legal battle with a local property owner on the road that cost the county roughly $300,000.
Pethel asked for information on repairing the bridge at a recent meeting. And BOC chairman Anthony Dove asked county engineer Phil Munro for estimates this past week. Dove reported to Pethel April 5 that installing a concrete bridge would cost $250,000, while installing a steel structure would cost around $180,000.
“When can we get started on it?” replied Pethel.
“That’s up to the governing authority,” said Dove.
Pethel said he will speak with Munro about the project and bring the matter back to the board at a future meeting.

Bridge in. Maybe land will sell better. Possibility and probably not but is there anyone with the Pethel's machine or who active in getting this bridge thing done have a real estate license or would benefit from this as building company who stands good chance of getting contract for example ? Does anyone know ? Anyone know ?
$180,000. That's cheap. Better get started on that while you can. Things are cheaper because no one has any work to do. Now is the time to make hay. Put it off and wait and you'll pay $500,000 easy. Let's git 'er done!
