Three men were arrested recently after a homeowner discovered them allegedly burglarizing a home on Berkley Road.
Three men charged with burglary
Louis Claude Robinson, 53, 3328 Cherokee Road, Comer, Michael Charles Swilling, 24, 206 Osley Mill Lane, Carlton, and Jamie Brandon White, 24, 1885 Cherokee Road, Comer, were each charged with one count of burglary.
The victim was checking the property, which had also been burglarized the week before, when he allegedly found a white Ford Explorer parked behind the residence. There were two white males standing around the vehicle and another man was spotted crawling out from under the house. The victim was able to provide the tag number to officers when they arrived and the vehicle was traced to a home on Osley Mill Lane. The men allegedly stole some copper wiring, a pair of pants and a wig.
In another incident, a Madison County Jail inmate allegedly attempted to commit suicide last week while in a holding cell prior to booking.
A Danielsville woman was arrested after allegedly scratching another woman on the chest and slapping her face during an argument over a sandwich and dirty dishes.
According to the incident report, the woman was taken to jail and placed in a holding cell to await booking. When a detention officer went there to begin the booking process around 8:50 p.m., the officer allegedly found that the woman had torn a long piece of her blanket, about one and a half inches wide, and tied it around her throat. She had tied the other end around her foot to provide leverage in an attempt to strangle herself, according to the report. Officers cut the blanket away from her throat and found she still had a pulse and respiration. She was taken to an Athens Regional Medical Center for evaluation and treatment.
