Man arrested after fleeing deputies

Henry Russell Mize, 45, 1059 East Paoli Road, was charged with passing in a no passing zone, failure to obey a stop sign, fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, weaving over roadway, tag light required, obey traffic control device, improper lane change, reckless driving, speeding and obstruction.

According to the incident report, Mize came out of the front door of the Ninth Street residence and fled on foot along the railroad tracks as a deputy’s car was pulling into the driveway. Two other officers saw him try to hide in some bushes along the tracks before running through a neighbor’s yard where he was apprehended by officer Jeff Strickland. During the apprehension, Mize was accidentally struck in the face by Strickland’s foot, a sheriff’s report stated. He was taken to jail and served with the original arrest warrants, as well as a warrant for obstruction.

In another arrest, Alexander Brown, 56, 134 Bryant Court, Hull, was charged with public drunkenness when he allegedly went to the Madison County courthouse complex intoxicated.
