A man on Page Road who had been arguing with a woman who lives with him told officers that he was in fear for his life.
When officer Brandon Moss asked him why he feared for his life he reportedly said it was “because of the way she looked at him.” The man stated there had never been any physical violence between the two of them and that she had been living there since February. The man was explained the eviction process and the TPO process.
Other incidents on file at the sheriff’s office this week included:
•A man on Cheek Pulliam Road reported that his Regions Bank debit card account had been compromised. He stated that a purchase was declined due to insufficient funds, which led him to discover that the account has been overdrawn by $5,246.
•Two female students were charged with disrupting public school last week after they allegedly got into a fight at the high school’s freshman academy.
•A woman on Della Slaton Road reported that someone came onto her property overnight and damaged her greenhouse by tearing more than a dozen holes in the plastic covering it. The responding officer noted that there had been multiple complaints about juveniles in the area over the preceding week.
•A metal box containing phone and cable hook ups were reportedly damaged at the driveway to a home on Sixth Street.
•Burglary was reported at the old Carlton storefront on Hwy. 72 East last week. The owner said someone had taken numerous items from inside the store.
•A suicide attempt by overdose was reported on Cherokee Road last week.
•Theft by taking was reported on James Adams Road after a man there said someone had taken his prescription medication.
•A man on Ashley Drive reported that someone had tried to steal copper from the a/c unit of his rental home.
•A CD player was reportedly stolen overnight from a locked vehicle on Creek Drive.
•A man on Minish Road reported that someone had stolen a gas can from the back of his truck. The victim said he spotted the suspect and spoke to him and was told that he had run out of gas. The suspect then threw the can of gas at him and took off running. He jumped on a red Polaris four wheeler and drove away. The victim walked down his driveway and spotted the vehicle parked behind a nearby home. The victim informed responding officers that a Jackson County man he knows had had a four-wheeler matching the description of the one the suspect was on stolen from him the night before. Jackson County investigators determined it was the stolen vehicle and removed it from the premises. Officers were unable to make contact with anyone at the residence where the four-wheeler was parked at the time of the report.
•A man was run over by a car he was working on for a friend on Briarwood Drive last week. According to the incident report, the car owner reported that her vehicle was stuck in drive and would not crank. A friend came by and agreed to work on it. He climbed under the vehicle and started it while it was still in gear and it drove over him, dragging him 15-20 feet until it hit a set of shelves in the garage and stopped, according to the report. The victim was driven to hospital by his girlfriend. The responding officer went to the hospital to speak to the victim, who gave the same statement. The victim said the vehicle rolled over his leg before it stopped and he appeared to have severe damage to his left arm and leg.
•A man reported that his broken down green Honda Accord had been stolen from a yard on Hwy. 172 West.
•A woman on Hwy. 106 South reported that her riding lawnmower was taken from next to her house while she was at work.
•A suicide attempt by overdosing on allergy medication was reported on Joe Cooper Road.
•Copper wiring was reported stolen from the old golf course clubhouse on Colbert-Danielsville Road.
•A woman on Hardman Morris Road reported that her Kia Forte had been “keyed.”
•A woman came to the sheriff’s office to report that someone had used her First Citizens Bank debit card information fraudulently to make an $87 purchase at a gas station in Columbus, OH.
•Theft by taking was reported at the middle school. The juvenile offender was turned over to a DFCS caseworker.
•Marijuana possession on a school bus was reported at the middle school.
•A woman reportedly suffering from dementia was found by a homeowner in their carport on Bryant Drive last week. The woman told the homeowner she had left home walking after her husband struck her. EMS arrived to evaluate her and said she appeared to be suffering from dementia. Her husband then arrived, confirmed the diagnosis, and said she had left home and he had been looking for her. There were no injuries on her person consistent with an altercation. She was taken to the hospital for evaluation since she appeared so disoriented.
•A man on Willis Glenn Road reported that someone busted out the back glass of his vehicle while it was parked in his yard. No items were taken from the vehicle.
•A man came to the sheriff’s office last week to report harassing text messages. The man said he knows the suspect only as “Tony” and that he sent the messages from different cell phones since he doesn’t have one of his own. The officer explained the warrant and TPO process.
•A woman on Maplewood Lane reported that her ex-husband has been using her debit card fraudulently to withdraw cash from ATM machines.
•A man whose home recently burned down on McCarty Dodd Road reported that someone had stolen the copper wiring and piping from his a/c unit, which was still at the homesite.
•A woman on Hwy. 106 South reported that her ex-boyfriend came to her home and struck her during an argument, leaving her with a black eye. She said the incident occurred after she told him she wouldn’t get back together with him.
•The back glass was busted out of a Ford Taurus at a car lot on Hwy. 72 west.
•A woman called the sheriff’s office to report that there were nine fraudulent transactions made on her Bank of America debit card account in different states.
•A man on New Hope Church Road reported that his chicken houses had been broken into and that some chickens were taken.
•An illegal burn of lumber and wire was reported on Tarpkins Road.
•Warrants have been issued for a man who allegedly fled an officer who was attempting to stop him for passing in a no-passing zone and failure to stop at a stop sign on Hwy. 191.
•A woman on Eugene Hardman Road reported that she suspects a family member took some of her prescription medication during a gathering at her home.
