Seniors Abby Atkinson and Bethany Poole are excited about earning the top spots as valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively, of this year’s Madison County High School graduating class.
And after the speeches are done and the diplomas are handed out during commencement ceremonies Friday night at the Classic Center, both girls are also excited about what their futures hold.
For Atkinson, that means beginning her college career this fall on Piedmont College’s Demorest campus, where any homesickness she feels will be muted a little by having her high school best friend as her roommate. She plans to major in environmental science and play softball for the college.
