Hull woman faces family violence charges
A Hull woman was arrested on family violence charges recently after officers were summoned to a “heated domestic dispute” on Spratlin Mill Road.
Tanya Michelle Cowart, 34, 524 Spratlin Mill Road, was charged with battery and five counts of cruelty to children in the third degree.
According to the incident report, officers were informed prior to their arrival that Cowart was screaming and breaking things. Officers found Cowart outside on the front porch walking around and shaking. She said she and her mother had gotten into a fight when her mother called her son “a liar.” Her mother told a different story, saying they were arguing because Cowart was holding her son back a grade in school. She said her daughter choked and kicked her, but admitted that she had slapped Cowart and yanked her hair while she was trying to defend herself.
While attempting to break the two up, Cowart’s father said his daughter bit him on his left arm. Cowart admitted to biting her father, but said she thought she was biting her mother. Her mother also said that Cowart began breaking pictures and throwing items on the floor and that she (mother) had called 9-1-1 because she was tired of the “continued abuse problems” with her daughter. Five juveniles were present during the entire altercation.
