Athens man charged with battery at Creekwood Drive home
An Athens man was arrested last week after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend during an argument at her Creekwood Drive home.
Marquyse Donzell Grisson, 21, 125 Baxter Drive, Apt B, T-3, was charged with one count of battery FVA.
According to the incident report, officer David Kidd responded to a domestic dispute where he found a woman who said that her boyfriend assaulted her when she refused to get out of his car, which was parked in her driveway. He allegedly grabbed her by the arm and twisted her wrist, then pulled her by the feet, slamming the car door on her legs. He then dragged her from the car. He was gone from the scene when Kidd arrived.
Other incidents on file at the sheriff’s office last week included:
•Burglary was reported on Lem Edwards Road. The victim reported that items stolen included an electric guitar, change from various change jars, cigarettes, a flat screen TV and a tool set. A digital camera system in the residence showed two offenders looking in the windows and then prying the back door open before taking the items.
•A heating and air unit was reportedly stolen from Liberty Church on Hwy. 106 North.
•Gang graffiti and other damage was reported at the soccer field at the Madison County High School sports complex. A witness said there have been problems with a group of Hispanic males who have damaged the field and left trash on the field and in the stands. She said they will sometimes not allow anyone else to use the fields. The coaches were advised to call the sheriff’s office the next time the group is there and will not leave.
•A motor and hydraulic pump were reportedly stolen from a flatbed trailer on Planter Gunnell Road. A witness said he saw a white and silver Ford extended cab truck pull in the yard and then speed off when they saw him.
•Copper wire was reportedly stolen from a rental mobile home on Hwy. 29 South. The landlord reported that the previous renter had been evicted and a witness said the renter told her that he was going to take the wire with him when he moved. A check with Athens Auto Wrecking confirmed that the renter brought in copper wire to be recycled. The case was turned over to an investigator.
•A man on Jack Sharp Road reported that someone stole his GPS unit, Extractor tool kit, and some loose change from his truck.
•A woman on East Paoli Road reported that she believes her daughter, who had been staying with her, “over-medicated” her and stole her gold 1994 Buick Park Avenue when she fell and hit her head. The woman also said that when she was placed in a hospice center in Athens she noticed a check was missing from her checkbook and that her bank account had been “cleaned out.” She said she wants to prosecute her daughter for both crimes.
•A man on Amberly Drive reported that a safe with his car title in it had been stolen out of his dresser drawer while he took his granddaughter to work.
•Burglary was reported at the Broad River Outpost on Wildcat Bridge Road.
•A woman on Providence Church Road reported that someone obtained AT&T cell phone service using her information. She said this is not the first time her identity has been stolen and that all are connected to the same Athens address.
•Several rolls of copper wire were reportedly stolen off trucks behind a fence at Jackson EMC on Hwy. 106. A videotape showed two individuals wearing hoodies.
•A woman on Hwy. 72 East reported that her bank contacted her about a fraudulent transaction at a Target in Virginia Beach, VA.
•A flat screen TV was reportedly stolen from a home on Ed Coile Road.
•A woman on AC Carey Road reported that several juveniles had been riding four-wheelers and dirt bikes on her property. A neighbor was able to provide the names and address of the juveniles.
•A woman on Jack Sharp Road reported that someone stole oxycodone and some prescription medication from the glove compartment of her unlocked car. She said she recently had the prescription filled.
•A woman on Maplewood Lane said a man she knows took some new spark plugs from her home and returned them without her permission to Auto Zone for a cash refund. She was advised of the warrant process.
•A man on Hwy. 29 South reported that someone took a rental check from the front door of his home. He said the renter would provide him with another check and had a stop payment placed on the first check. He said his home was recently burglarized, so he wanted a report of this incident too.
•A man on Rogers Church Road reported that someone had entered his home, two barns and a vehicle. He said things had been moved around but that nothing had been taken.
•Two males reported that they were assaulted by a man at the Chicken Express in Danielsville. They said they were talking to two girls when one of the girls’ husband came in and began cursing them. They stated they went outside but he followed them. One of the males said the man then walked up to him and punched him in the eye. He then allegedly threatened to get his gun and kill him. The officer noted that there were no visible injuries.
•Criminal trespass was reported on Grady Drive when a man said that some unknown juveniles had thrown fireworks in his boat causing it to catch fire.
•A woman on Woodale Street reported that someone had stolen two pistols from the unlocked glove compartment of her vehicle. Credit cards and her driver’s license were also reportedly stolen from the center console.
•A woman in Tranquility Mobile Home Park on Hwy. 72 West reported that someone had stolen $800 cash from an envelope in her purse. According to the incident report, not all the cash in the envelope was taken.
•Batteries were reportedly taken from two tractors on Leon Ellis Road.
•Simple battery was reported on Hwy. 98 West when a woman said she and her mother had gotten into a physical altercation. She said her mother jumped on her as she tried to clean up the house. Both women were noted to have marks on them.
•A woman on Faye Carey Road reported that her 17-year old ex-boyfriend had threatened her after she moved out of a residence they shared on Macedonia Church Road. She said he had stopped in the road as she was arriving at Faye Carey Road and started yelling at her and making threats. He allegedly threatened to go get a gun and come back and “take care” of her family.
