Woman threatens boyfriend in front of officers
A Comer woman was arrested recently after she allegedly threatened to shoot her live-in boyfriend.
Deborah Ann Garrett, 34, 2430 Osley Mill Road, was charged with one count of terroristic threats and acts.
Officers were summoned to the residence by Garrett, who told a 9-1-1 dispatche she wanted her boyfriend removed from the home.
Garrett told officers when they arrived that she wanted him removed from the home because he had been “talking to some teenage girls.” She said she had walked in on him lying on the couch with one of the girls, who was 17 years old. Garrett stated that her boyfriend was also “grabbing on the neighbor’s 14-years of age daughter back around Easter.”
One of the officers spoke with the 17-year old and her parents, who stated nothing took place between the two.
After explaining this to Garrett and telling her that she would have to go though the courts to have her boyfriend removed, she allegedly stated to the officers that she would just “shoot his #$$.” She was told she could not be making threats or she would go to jail, to which she reportedly replied that she “didn’t care” and that if officers would “turn (their) heads” she would “beat his #@@.” At that time she was placed under arrest and was allowed to sit in the back of a patrol car while she made arrangements for the care of her children. Once arrangements were made, she was transported to jail.
In another domestic incident, Michael Chris Charping, 32, 2954 Hwy. 29 South, Colbert, was charged with simple assault under the Family Violence Act (FVA) after officers were told that he struck his wife during a card party at their home.
According to the incident report, Charping had already left the scene on foot when officers arrived, but called 9-1-1 to report that he was hiding in the woods and wanted to talk to officers. Officers met him at the wood line where he told them his wife and sister-in-law jumped on him because the sister-in-law told his wife that she had seen another woman at the residence performing oral sex on him. A witness at the scene, who was the only one who had reportedly not been drinking, told officers that the women confronted Charping about the matter, and that he pushed his wife down and hit her in the face with his fist, then shoved his sister-in-law over a railroad tie.
Charping was arrested and taken to jail.
