Madison County fifth and eighth graders improved in their CRCT scores this year, but the system continued to struggle in eighth grade math.
Madison fifth graders showed dramatic improvement in math with a 10.8 percent failure rate this year compared to a 23.5 percent failure rate last year. But eighth graders, while improving slightly, still had a high 25.3 percent failure rate which was worse than the state average of 22.3 percent.
Madison fifth graders also excelled in science with a 12.9 percent failure rate, a dramatic improvement over last year and about half of the state failure rate average. Fifth graders also did well in social studies and reading where the system was in the top 30 systems out of 187 in the state.
Madison eighth graders also did well in social studies ranking it among the top 20 systems in the state with a low failure rate of 12.8 percent, about half the state average.
