Danielsville’s city council met for almost three hours July 11, but took little action, tabling most of the items on the agenda. Mayor Philip Croya was absent from the meeting.
After an hour long closed session to discuss “personnel” the council did decide to discontinue the services of part-time administrative employee Vicky Smith. Smith is the full-time city clerk at Colbert city hall and had been working part-time two afternoons per week at Danielsville. They tabled a decision on a police chief to replace Rodney Christian, who was one of three employees fired in early May.
In other business, the council tabled discussion of the upcoming Danielsville Fall Festival. The committee who has managed the festival for the past decade voted earlier this year not to have a festival, but the council has said they want to go ahead with it.
Lengthy D’ville meeting produces little action

No offense to Cliff Moody but is he the only qualified person that inquired about the position?I know of at least two people that sent the Mayor a resume that are extremely qualified for the Chiefs position. With that said why is the Mayor and council at least talking to qualified people? It makes no sense at all. Wait to yall get sued and we will all sit back and laugh at you. You better get your ducks in a row and search for the best person!!!!!!

I'd like to see some new faces involved in the job openings and Police Department. I also think that'd please alot of people, except the local good-old boys.

No police and Danielsville is humming along with no problems. Does the tiny nothingness that is Danielsville even need a police dept.? Looks like we're doing just fine without one. Sheriff's Dept. is right down the street. We should save some money and let it stay the way it is. No need to hire unnecessary cops in the city just duplicating services provided by the Sheriff's Dept. whose office is located just a few hundred yards from the city limit. Might even be in the city limit.

Well now you know they were looking at the apps. And they did find a chief. But they asked Moody to help until they got a chief. But thank you for your comments. And if you think you can ever do better please put your apps. in.
