Madison Co. no hits Midway in state tourney opener

Madison County’s 11-12-year-old Little League all stars carried their district dominance into the state tournament Saturday, no hitting Midway in a 10-0 shutout.

CJ Smith and Golston Gillespie combined for the no hitter. Only one Midway player reached base and that was via a walk. Madison County pitchers struck out 11 and fielders gloved it up when Midway did put it in play.

Dylan Gentry was 3-4 with a two-run homer. Golsten Gillespie was 4-4 with two doubles. Madison County had a total of 14 hits.

Madison County will face Glennville Little League at 8 p.m. Monday in Cartersville.
