A Madison County man faces charges of operating a chop shop and theft by receiving.
John Michael Thomas of Hwy. 98 was arrested this week after investigators tied Thomas to a recent attempted theft of a Jeep.
Law officers discovered that a rollback wrecker used by the alleged Jeep thieves was owned by Thomas. Madison County investigators then acquired a search warrant for Thomas’ junkyard off Hwy. 98 just west of Neese-Commerce Road.
Investigators sifted through dozens of stripped-out vehicles Tuesday afternoon, looking for evidence of vehicle theft, as well as the theft of car transmissions and other parts.
Weeds grew up between numerous junked vehicles, which were lined tightly together a few hundred feet behind the shop. Old tires and car parts were scattered about the property.
Madison County Sheriff's Department investigators examine junked cars at a suspected Hwy. 98 chop shop Tuesday, looking for evidence of theft.

A thought for everyone to remember...what you read in the newspapers is NOT THE TRUTH. It only tells one side of the story. I thought there was always two sides to every story.. I guess no one thought about this... the police or the newspapers or all the people out there who read what the newspapers print.. I sure do wish SOMEBODY would have done something right and if they had his name and his business would not be plastered all over the front of the paper. I am the girlfriend of the body shop owner.

So, if the printed story is untrue, does that make the "one side" true or not? If the "one side" is accurate, perhaps KW could post the "other side" here. Why didn't she, if she is so sure the paper's story is false or unfair. Praytell, what is the other side of the story if it is so very important to KW.

Darn that evil Sheriff's Office for framing your boyfriend. We all know they carry around 'throw down' stolen vehicles and planted them at his body shop. And shame on the newspaper for printing such fabrications. What is this world coming to??

Way to go Madison County Sheriffs Office!!! I hear so much negative talk, but those people apparently don't read the paper. I have lived in MC all my life and the amt of drugs seized in the last couple of years, the number of criminals that have been arrested and held accountable for their crimes speaks for itself. Thank you Sheriff Thomas, finally i feel safe in my own county!

If you are the girlfriend of the shop owner you had to know those things were there. Have you been charged? Don't need to believe everything I read on here but if there were stolen cars and parts there that is what the facts are. Really don't need the opinion of the "girlfriend of the shop owner." LOL
