Forty eight foreclosures are being advertised for foreclosure in September in this week’s Journal.
That’s up from 22 advertised for the August sale date and brings the total of advertised foreclosures in Madison County for 2011 to 275. At that pace, Madison County will have 366 foreclosures advertised in 2011.
There were 459 properties advertised for foreclosure in The Madison County Journal in 2010, a 22 percent increase over 2009 and a 200 percent increase over 2007, when 150 foreclosures were advertised.
While the foreclosure sales are advertised in the newspaper, not all properties will necessarily be sold through the foreclosure process. Mortgage holders could still settle with lenders before the property is sold at the courthouse door.
