Madison County school students will be able to receive free flu vaccines again this year from the Madison County Health Department, according to county nurse manager Beth Heath who made the announcement during the county quarterly board of health meeting last week. A date for the vaccinations has not been set.
Superintendent Allen McCannon said school principals believe the vaccines given out last November helped keep attendance up during flu season.
The rate of births to teenage girls has continued a general downward trend over the past couple of decades, according to Dr. Claude Burnett, Northeast Georgia Health District director, who presented the data to board members.
