State senator Frank Ginn was pretty philosophical about the proposed new boundaries for Senate District 47 as the special reapportionment session of the General Assembly got under way Aug. 15.
“I guess I can say I’m pleased that I’m not representing South Carolina,” Ginn joked.
The proposed new version of the district includes all of Madison County, all of Barrow County, the southern half of Jackson County and the east side of Athens-Clarke.
“I’m not very happy, quite honestly,” Ginn said. “It cuts me out of about half of what I’ve got in Jackson County and pushes me much more into Athens-Clarke, an area I don’t currently serve.”
