Madison Co. BOC to meet Aug. 29

The Madison County Board of Commissioners will meet at 6:30 p.m., Monday, Aug. 29, in the county government complex.
The board will also meet at 6 p.m. that night to adopt this year's millage rate.
Agenda items for the 6:30 p.m. meeting include:
•Chairman’s report. (Chairman Anthony Dove)
•Business involving guests, groups or multiple visitors: Carl Varnadoe – Madison County Cooperative Extension – Will introduce the new county extension agent, Adam Speir.
•Report from IDA – Marvin White.
•Statements and remarks from citizens on agenda items.
•Consider watershed protection plan. (Marvin White)
•Discuss and open bids for recreation department. (Robin Pendleton)
•Discuss a RFP for 9-1-1 county notification system. (David Camp)
•Consider hiring a will call list applicant for the transfer station. (Sandra Webb)
•Discuss reappointment of John Steudeman to the planning and zoning board. (Chairman Dove)
•Discuss reappointment of Todd Higdon to the planning and zoning board. (Commissioner Dewitt “Pete” Bond)
•Consider flashing “Truck Entering Highway” sign for Collins VFD. (Chairman Dove)
•Consider contract agreement with Pictometry. (Commissioner Mike Youngblood)
•Consider traffic study at Hwy. 29 and First Citizens Bank and Ingles for traffic light. (Commissioner Youngblood)
•Consider acceptance of Stapler Road into the county. (Commissioner Youngblood)
•Consider resurfacing of Thomas Road. (.4 miles) (Commissioner Youngblood)
•Consider paving Old Church Road. (.3 miles) (Commissioner Youngblood)
•Consider equipment recommendations from the road department. (Chairman Dove)
•Discuss the 2011 and 2012 budget. (Commissioner Thomas)
•Roads update. (Chairman Dove)
•Urgent matters. (Chairman Dove)
•Review Sept. 6 agenda for business meeting.
•Statements and remarks from citizens on any matter.
•Closed session to discuss land acquisition, personnel matters and/or potential litigation (if needed)
