The Madison County Sheriff’s Office and Athens-Clarke County police are on the look out for a black male and female who allegedly shoplifted groceries and then stole an elderly Athens man’s vehicle from the Ingles parking lot in Hull Monday night.
According to the incident report, officer Jeffery Strickland was dispatched to Ingles about 10 p.m. Monday night regarding a shoplifting and car theft.
An Ingles employee told Strickland that an unknown black male wearing blue jeans, a white t-shirt and a black and white baseball cap entered the store and filled a hand basket up with various food and then ran out an exit door without paying for the food, knocking a woman backward as he ran. He then jumped in the back seat of a 1996 Lincoln Town Car with tag number BJD 0391.
