I hope the BOC and the State can find a way to restore the park's status. Parks like this are more important than they seem at first glance and this particular park is part of Georgia's heratage. It would be terrible to lose a place like this due to a shortage of funds.

"Due to budget strains, state officials recently downgraded Watson Mill from a “state park”" - Very interesting until one learns the State of Georgia opened a new state park on Lake Lanier - in Hall County recently, In Gainesville no less. And who is the governor and where does he hail from? Nathan's back must feel pretty good with all the scratching from Hall County. Or maybe he's getting something else in return for all the favors - Inquiring minds want to know.

My boo boo - The new state park is not in Hall County but rather Newnan Georgia however to open a new state park at the expense of an existing one is to my opinion corrupt, Did someone get a paycheck under the table? And Nate still enjoys the scratching.

I remember one death reported in either this paper or the Athens paper. I thought at the time it wasn't the whole story and suspected that the poor creature was left in the car. German Shepards were bred for tolerance to very cold weather and should not be allowed to work in heat, same as some breeds of horses. Definitely Huskies should be banned from hot climates everywhere. Even my child's Golden Retriever suffers terribly through our heckasious summers.

Yes, I saw that too. Sounds to me like the dog died of heat in the car..neglect. Should there not be charges filed? And another dog just escapes. Sounds like there is some incompetence in this department. Why isn't this in the paper?

Went to this place once. Did not go back. River not that pretty. Local area where park is made my wife feel not necessarily safe. Our families view.
