Domestic incident reported on Poss Road
Officers were called to a domestic incident at a residence on Poss Road recently that reportedly involved a gun.
Officer Jeffrey Vaughn responded to the scene where a woman had called to report that her estranged boyfriend was pulling her by the arm and had pointed a pistol at her. Three other officers were already on scene and at the door trying to get the suspect to come to the door.
The victim was squatted down behind a patrol car. The victim said she wanted to leave and go to her mother’s home. She said she and the suspect have been separated but that she had stayed over there with him for a couple of nights. She told Hanley that the suspect was “out of his mind,” combative and in an angry rage. She said the two had argued over her cell phone after she refused to let the suspect see its contents.
She could not remember which arm he had grabbed and she had no swelling or bruising on her arms.
Officers explained the TPO process to her and told her to stay away from the suspect as the two “have a terrible history together and can not get along.” She was taken to her mother’s home and advised a report would be on file so she can pursue charges through magistrate court.
In another incident, officer Brandon Hanley was sent to the Food Mart on Hwy. 98 West regarding an aggravated assault between a couple over their horse.
Hanley first met with the husband at the store, who told him that his wife had thrown dishes at him, punched him several times and then struck him with a broom during an argument over their horse’s boarding fee.
He said she began to swing a baseball bat around the kitchen, hitting the refrigerator, counter and knocking him into an end table. At some point she also reportedly grabbed a knife and stated that she would kill him.
Hanley noted that the husband had two red marks on his left side and that he appeared to be intoxicated. Hanley then went to the couple’s residence on Rocky Branch Hollow Road where he met with the wife, who told him that her husband had come home drunk and “pilled up.” She said the two argued and that he broke things and turned the bed over, striking her in the shoulder during the incident. She said he attempted to strike her with a ball bat. She reportedly told him that “if we don’t quit someone is gonna’ die,” because she felt if the situation progressed it would not end well. Due to the fact that a couple of hours had passed and there were conflicting stories, no arrest was made, but the warrant process was explained to them. Hanley noted that neither party expressed any interest in pursuing criminal charges against the other.
