The Red Raider softball team scorched Johns Creek from Fulton County Thursday night in the first round of the Class AAAA state playoffs, downing the visitors 9-0, 8-0 to sweep the best-of-three series.
The Red Raiders now await the winner of the matchup between Marist/Kell, who split the first two games of their series.
Randee Bettis hurled a shutout in game one, overcoming a bases loaded, no-out jam in the top of the first. And Gabby Gillespie got the shutout in game two.
While Bettis was stellar on the mound, she helped the team out considerably at the plate, launching three home runs on the evening, including two in game one.
