A citizens on patrol training program is being planned at the Madison County Sheriff’s Training Center at the jail off Hwy. 98.
Guest speakers will be the probate judge, juvenile judge, sheriff, game warden and investigators from the drug task force and gang unit.
The program begins Oct. 27 at and Nov. 3.This program will end in April 2012. Classes start at 6 pm at the Madison County Sheriff’s training facility at the jail.
“Adults and youth will learn the every day responsibilities of police officers, such as preparing traffic reports, finger printing, speeding enforcement, DUI enforcement, etc.” organizers said. “This course will also include training in safety and self-defense. They will learn about investigative work used to fight drugs and gangs and also how to report and prevent crime in their community.”
