Hull man charge with battery at courthouse
A Hull man was arrested in the county complex in Danielsville recently after he reportedly attacked his daughter just outside the courtroom.
Cory Shane Haynes, 38, 6143 Neese-Commerce Road, was charged with one count of simple battery after he allegedly shoved his juvenile daughter. According to the report, Haynes said he lost his temper when his daughter cursed at him and told him she hated him when he exited the courtroom. The girl said her father stated he was “going to DFCS right now” when he left the courtroom and she told him to “go ahead and sign his rights away,” and that she was tired of all that. She said her father charged her and began yelling at her, pushing her and kicking her in her lower back. She said that she was unable to get away from him and her necklace was broken during the altercation.
According to officer Brandon Hanley, a review of the courthouse security tape showed Haynes attacking his daughter, shoving and pushing her, as well as kicking her in the lower back with his right foot. Haynes was then arrested and taken to jail.
In another arrest, Curtis Anthony Phillips, 50, 2290 Osley Mill Road, Comer, was charged with one count of battery Family Violence Act after he allegedly struck his wife in the mouth during an argument.
According to the incident report, Phillips told officer Brandon Moss that he and his wife got into an argument and she grabbed him by a part of his male anatomy and he pushed her down. His wife told a different story, saying that they got into an argument because he referred to her grandchildren with a racial slur. She said she “got in his face” and told him to shut up and he punched her in the mouth. Moss noted that her lip was busted and bleeding.
