Man faces battery, drug charges
A Danielsville man was arrested on family violence and drug charges after officer Jeffrey Vaughn was sent to Ty Cobb Hospital to meet with a woman who was the victim of domestic violence.
Tony James Tucker, 37, 543 Rogers Mill Road, was charged with possession of tools for the commission of a crime, unlawful to come inside guard lines to deliver to inmate a controlled substance, etc., three counts of battery/simple battery FVA, two counts of possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, and two counts of cruelty to children in the third degree (allow child to witness felony/battery/family violence).
According to the incident report, the victim told Vaughn that Tucker hit her in the eye as she was holding their baby the previous evening. That morning, he allegedly came into the living room where she was and began cursing her. She had been holding the baby all night, but put the baby down to try to get up and when she did he slapped her across the jaw. When she bent down to get the baby he allegedly kicked her in the ribs. She ran out the door and he kicked her again causing her to fall on the front steps. She said Tucker had been smoking meth all night and taken several pills.
Two other officers went to the residence where they found Tucker and he was arrested. After arrival at the jail, he was searched and a clear plastic container wrapped with black electrical tape was located and removed by the jail staff. A glass pipe was inside, along with a baggie filled with an off-white substance that tested positive for methamphetamine.
In another arrest, Matthew Thomas Means, 19, 150 Three Rivers Court, Hull, was charged with theft by taking (felony), criminal damage to property in the first degree, possession of tools for the commission of a crime and possession of a Schedule I controlled substance. Officer Brandon Hanley found him walking around Diamond Hill Grocery store late Sunday night after it had closed while carrying a duffel bag. When Hanley approached him he noticed copper wire hanging out of the bag. Means was found to be carrying three pocket knives, a set of wire cutters, flashlight, gloves, black bandana and a corner baggy containing suspected methamphetamine. A glass smoking pipe was also found in his jacket pocket. Utility poles in the mobile home park behind the store were found to be damaged and the wire removed.
