Woman, son threatened on Hwy. 106
A woman on Hwy. 106 South reported recently that she and her son had been threatened over the phone by a couple they know.
The woman said this happened after she told the female perpetrator that she had had an affair with her husband. The woman said the call from the couple allegedly threatened to kill both her and her son. She was explained the TPO and warrant process.
Other incidents on file at the sheriff’s office last week included:
•Opened mail was found strewn in several locations along Old Harrison School Road. One man said two letters he mailed were recovered and that two checks had been removed from the letters. The man said he had already called the bank to cancel the checks.
•A man on Macedonia Church Road reported that he has been receiving harassing phone calls from a blocked number. He said the caller just laughs and doesn’t say anything. He suspects his former girlfriend of making the calls, but does not know where she is calling from.
•A man on Virginia Lane reported that his license plate had been stolen from his 1995 Ford Mustang GT.
•A man reported that his Chevy work van was stolen from Comer Paoli Road last week where he leaves it each evening. Tools were inside the van, according to the report, including a camping tent, wire stretcher and a bee smoker.
•A man on Piedmont Road reported that his identity has been stolen. He said he was trying to apply for government assistance but that he was refused because records indicated he had filed a tax return in 2010. He said he has not filed a tax return for the previous ten years. He was advised by the Federal Trade Commission to file a report with the sheriff’s department and to contact the three credit reporting agencies.
•A male middle school student was charged with sexual battery after he allegedly slid a pencil or pen up against a juvenile female’s rear end. The incident was witnessed by a school counselor and is the second time contact has been made like this with this student, according to the report.
•A male student at the middle school was charged with disrupting public school after he allegedly beat his book bag against the wall after a teacher told him not to.
•A man on Griffith Road reported that a house he owns was shot three times by a high-powered rifle.
•An Ingles store manager reported that a black male shoplifted six 36-packs of Bud Light beer. She said the man, wearing a red ball cap, checkered long sleeved button down shirt and tan pants, comes into the store often and shoplifts. A customer followed the man in an older green car into Clarke County, where he said he turned onto Fowler Drive. The tag number the customer provided did not match the vehicle it was attached to, according to the report.
•A man on Sixth Street reported that someone stole a two-ton chain hoist and a Makita grinder from his rock shed.
•A woman on Mt. Zion Road reported that she had been attacked by a woman she knows in the parking lot of the Dollar General in Ila. She said the woman has been threatening her for several weeks and that she was in the store while she was there. She said the offender confronted her as she was leaving the store, accusing the victim’s son of biting her son at day care and saying that if it happened again there would be “@#$$ to pay.” The victim told her she was not aware that her son had bitten anyone and got in her car to leave. The woman reportedly stepped in front of her car to keep her from leaving and then reached inside the vehicle and grabbed her by the hair, slapping her on the face. The officer noted that there was redness and swelling to the side of her face. The victim’s 4-year old son and 9-year old daughter were in the vehicle when the assault occurred. She was explained the warrant and TPO process.
•A middle school student was charged with carrying a weapon within school safety zone after another student spotted him with a knife on a school bus.
•A man on Pine Valley Farm Road reported that several dogs had been abandoned at a foreclosed home. The man said he had gone to look at the home and that four bulldogs and two puppies had gotten out of their pen and followed him home. The puppies were underweight so he fed them and called 9-1-1. He said he has seen someone come to the property about three times per week to care for the animals, but that he does not know how to contact them. The case was turned over to animal control for follow up.
•A man on Veteran’s Drive reported that a washer and dryer were stolen from a rental mobile home.
•A man on Glenn Carrie Road reported that his garden tiller had been stolen from inside his kitchen. He said he believes his stepson took it, but the stepson denied taking the tiller.
•A young boy was reportedly bitten by a dog on Stone Ridge Drive last week. According to the report, the dog’s owner said the boy ran into her house while the dog was eating and ran up beside it and it bit the boy on the back of the head. She confined the dog on the back porch and yelled for someone to call 9-1-1. The boy was taken to the hospital by EMS. The woman was cited by animal control for not having a rabies vaccine for the dog, which she said she has had for three years. The dog was placed on mandatory watch in reference to rabies.
•A man on Watson Road reported that his horse had been shot. He said the wound was not life-threatening but that he wanted a report filed in case of further incidents.
•A student at the high school who reportedly has multiple personalities was charged with sexual battery after he allegedly assaulted a female student moving band instruments to the practice field. Witnesses stated the student made a sexual statement about the female, then jumped out of a car and ran to her and began simulating sex with her. The girl tried to push him away and fell. The student then stood over her continuing to make sexual remark
