Susan Goldman, a long-time University of Georgia Extension Service Agent, has been hired as Madison County Extension Coordinator.
For the past 12 years she worked at the Madison County and Oglethorpe Extension Offices, serving as the county 4-H extension agent. Goldman works alongside the Cooperative Extension Staff of seven, including family and consumer science agent Nancy Bridges, agriculture and natural resources agent Adam Speir and family and consumer science TAPS agent Leigh Anne Aaron, 4-H program assistants Deborah Wofford and Leigh Foster. Cooperative Extension Secretary Anne Threlkeld is an essential part of the cooperative extension staff serving as a support secretary for all areas, Goldman said.
Goldman replaces long-time County Extension Coordinator Carl Varnadoe. Varnadoe retired from the Madison County Cooperative Extension office two years ago but continued to serve part-time as county extension coordinator until October. Varnadoe was a dedicated county extension agricultural agent in Madison County for the past 13 years. He is currently serving as a part-time county extension agent for Columbia County.

Welcome, Ms. Goldman. I have to say I don't often think to use the Extension Service resources, but I should look into all that it offers. Much can be found on the service's web sites, but I must say I was impressed when Carl Varnadoe came out to my property to help identify a problem I was having. He was so helpful.
