Madison County Industrial Development and Building Authority executive director Marvin White issued the following report to county commissioners Nov. 28.
“Russell Drive and Cooper Road, we have advertised for bids and accepted low bid from Atlanta Paving and Concrete Construction Inc. for concrete base and asphalt paving of these two roads. Should be signing contract and notice to proceed within next 15 days beginning Nov. 22. We will have to work with Columbia Farms to schedule this paving work. The trucks will have to be able to get in and out from the feed mill. $274,300 bid price. Total of three bids were received: Pittman Construction Company $301,515 and Allied Paving Contractors Inc. $299,630. We hope to get this paving done soon.
“Water line construction should begin next week on Spratlin Mill Road to connect from Spratlin Pond Subdivision to South Creek Subdivision; this will give another tie to Hwy. 72 area.
“We completed the connection to Madison County Library fire line. Ready to be turned on as soon as the library contractor gets the fire line connected to the library.
“The MCID&BA applied to the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority for funding for Hwy. 29 North Franklin County Connection loan/grant.
“The authority approved an agreement with the city of Commerce to purchase water from the city of Commerce up to 5,000,000 gallons per day with minimum purchase of 1,000,000 gallons per month.
“Currently working with Commissioner (Mike) Youngblood on supplying water to Virginia Lane residents. Looking at areas of funding for this project.”
