Madison County commissioners agreed to help the Neese-Sanford Fire Department in its efforts to establish a new station on Neese Commerce Road.
Neese fire chief John Seagraves told commissioners Monday that the current station on Hwy. 106 is small and in a “dangerous location from a traffic perspective.”
He informed the board that the department intends to purchase five acres on Neese-Commerce Road adjacent to the radio tower from Raymond Boswell for $25,000.
That property is in “conservation use” status. And Boswell would face a steep fine for breaking the terms of the conservation covenant by selling it to the fire department.
