A 17-year-old Danielsville man was arrested early Friday morning for allegedly stabbing a man in the stomach.
John Wayne Strickland was charged with aggravated assault and possession of marijuana after officers were called to 116 Gunnell Road between Danielsville and Comer at 11:47 Thursday night.
Strickland allegedly stabbed Butch Lee Towe, 22, Danielsville, in the stomach area. Towe was taken to Athens Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.
According to a report from the Madison County Sheriff’s Department, Strickland claimed he stabbed Towe in self defense.
Jason Luke, the responding officer, said Strickland was speaking in a rapid manner and was out of breath.
