Man arrested for allegedly striking mother, uncle
A Hull man was arrested recently after he reportedly struck his mother and uncle during a domestic dispute.
Bobby Reginald Johngan, 21, 201 Arthur Road, Hull, was charged with criminal trespass and two counts of battery FVA.
According to the incident report, officer Chad Parr found Johngan crying and hugging a female on the front porch, while his mother sat on the porch bleeding from the left side of her head. When Parr asked the couple what had happened, Johngan reportedly stated “I didn’t mean to do it.”
Johngan’s uncle said Johngan hit his mother causing her to fall down and then struck him in the head. Johngan also reportedly admitted to kicking in his mother’s bedroom door.
His mother was taken by EMS to ARMC for treatment and Johngan was taken to jail.
In another incident, two men were arrested after they reportedly were caught stealing metal off an abandoned building on Hwy. 106 South.
Benjamin Wayne Malanoski, 23, 403 Helican Springs Road, Athens, and Horace Lamar Morton, 34, 733 Apt. 1, Blacks Creek Church Road, Danielsville, were each charged with one count of theft by taking and criminal trespass. According to the report, officer Brandon Moss was dispatched to a possible theft in progress. Once he arrived, he found a vehicle backed up to the building with 15 sheets of metal sticking out of the trunk. The men first said they had permission from the owner, but a check of their story disproved this. They were arrested and taken to jail for booking.
Other incidents on file at the sheriff’s office this week included:
•A woman in Thomas Heights reported that she has been receiving phone calls from a woman named “Teresa” for some time. She said the female calls from a private number and had called her twice on this date and told her that she and the victim’s husband have “something going on between them” and that the victim’s husband has just left her home. The victim said she does not know her last name or where she lives.
Later that day, officers were summoned back to Thomas Heights, where the victim said that “Teresa” had pulled up next to her at the Dollar General store in a silver truck after her husband went inside the store. She said the woman cursed at her and pulled out a knife blade saying she was going to “cut her to pieces with this.” She stated that she went to get her husband and “Teresa” left, going towards Athens.
•The Madison County Library branch manager reported that $300 had been stolen from the library’s cash register. She said most employees of the library and construction workers remodeling the library know where the key to the register is kept.
•A man on Buffington Road reported that several items had been stolen from his pole barn.
•A man hunting in a deer stand on Stone Stewart Road reported that he heard shots and one of the bullets struck the tree above his head.
•Harassing phone calls were reported on Payne Drive last week. A man there said his wife has been receiving harassing texts from a woman he possibly has a child with. He said whenever the woman has a problem with him, she harasses his wife.
•A woman in Spratlin Way said her ex-husband has been harassing her on the phone. She had a voicemail from him that cursed and threatened a male friend of hers from church.
•A woman on Old Elberton Road reported that her home had been damaged by her boyfriend who she has been living with for about two months.
•A fire inside a washing machine was reported on Tree Lane in Colbert last week. Colbert and Comer VFDs responded.
•The Ila VFD responded to a pickup on fire on Hwy. 98 West.
•A woman reported that her purse was stolen from her car while it was parked at Riley’s Video on Glenn Carrie Road. The passenger side front window of the vehicle was broken out and glass scattered around and inside the vehicle. The purse contained multiple credit cards, an iPod touch, a necklace, a checkbook, driver’s license and wallet. Her cards were canceled, but she informed the officer that a charge had just occurred at a Shell station in Athens and other locations.
•Harassing phone calls were reported on Spratlin Way last week. A woman said her ex-husband had been calling and harassing her for the past year. She said that now that she has a boyfriend, the calls are getting worse and include threats toward both of them.
•Burglary was reported on Woodale Street last week after copper piping was stolen from a rental unit.
•A woman on Fitzpatrick Road reported that she found a used syringe in her spare bedroom. She said she had allowed a person to stay in that room, but had told him not to come back to the residence. She was advised of the eviction and TPO process.
•Forgery was reported on North Fourth Street last week. Several fraudulent checks were reportedly written against an elderly woman’s bank account.
•A man on Reggie Ingram Road reported that a metal gate to his cow pasture had been stolen.
•A man on AC Carey Road reported that someone stole the gate panels from the entrance to his property.
•A woman on Blacks Creek Church Road reported that her ex-husband keeps contacting her in violation of a temporary protection order against him. One message, left on Christmas Day, said “if he had to go to jail over this, it was worth it.” She said he has also contacted her by email and on Facebook.
•A woman on Spratlin Mill Road reported that her father tried to choke her during an argument. The father said he did not touch her and that the argument stemmed from him speaking to her about being a responsible parent to her child. The complainant had no visible marks on her person. She was advised of the warrant process and her father was advised on how to get a TPO.
•A woman on Sexton Jennings Road reported that approximately $500 was withdrawn from her account on Dec. 27 without her knowledge. She was able to trace the purchase to an online source, but the company representative was not able to provide any further information at the time.
•Damage to ditches being graded by a county contractor on Pittman Matthews Road was reported last week. The contractor said that someone destroyed the ditch line and seeding by driving a truck through it and spinning deep ruts. The damage was estimated at approximately $5,000. Officer Alan Stratton followed the muddy tracks from the vehicle to the Jackson County line, but was unable to continue due to traffic on the highway.
•A woman on Sherwood Circle reported that a woman she knows has been calling and texting her, threatening to take her kids and beat her up.
•Metal fencing was reportedly stolen from the Crawford Cemetery on Neese-Commerce Road. A witness said he saw two white males near the cemetery with a small red vehicle parked in the field near it.
•A man on Reese Lane reported that several piles of metal were missing from his property. He named two suspects.
