Qualifying fees set for 2012 elections

Want to toss your hat in the ring in 2012 local elections?

Well, there’s a cost.

County commissioners approved qualifying fees for local offices Jan. 9.

They are:

•Sheriff: $1,779.86.

•Clerk of Superior Court: $1,491.65.

•Tax commissioner: $1,491.65.

•Probate judge: $1,491.65.

•Chairman, BOC: $1,779.86.

•Coroner: $294.

•County surveyor: $10.

•Board of Education: $78.26.

•District commissioner: $216.

Qualifying for local elections will begin at 9 a.m. May 23 and conclude at noon, May 25.

Hello Madison County Citizens its time to wake up and clean up the mess we have from the Commissioners to the Clerk of Court who has been in office way too long and thinks she owns it ! So please come out and help vote these out of office its time for some new faces !!!!

I agree, but it is hard to get these "buddies" out of office after all the favors they do. It doesn't matter if you are more qualified, more educated...etc..if you are not a "lifetime resident of Madison County", you are wasting your time and money.

I agree! It's always nice to have fresh faces in our local government. New ideas and input is always a welcome. Local governments gets stale due to the same elected officials voted into office over and over again. Once in there, some don't or won't see that they're other ways to help our community to get ahead.

Yes, Same elected officials like the Clerk of Court been in there 20 plus years and needs to be replaced ! She acts like that office and the ladies in there belong to her. She also is so snooty to the other offices in the courthouse. She has her neice in there working too which is nepotism but because she is elected nothing is done. Wake up citizens and open your eyes to this and other things that need to be changed this election.

Sounds like somebody needs to run if this is going on and get the snooty out of office. If I was the ladies in that office I believe I would be jumping for joy to get a New Clerk of Court that did not think they owned me !
