Athens man charged with battery
An Athens man was arrested recently after a domestic violence incident in the parking lot of the Bread Basket on Hwy. 72 West.
Stacy Lamar Alexander, 42, 100 Rollin Ridge Apt. 115, was charged with battery FVA and three counts of cruelty to children.
According to the incident report, officer Michael Moore was dispatched to a couple fighting in the parking lot. When he arrived, a customer told him the man left walking on Hwy. 72 West. Moore made contact with the man, Alexander, who told he and his girlfriend were arguing about a cell phone and that she took the vehicle and left him at the store. He said he did not touch her. After giving Alexander a ride to the Golden Pantry in Hull, Moore got a call from Athens Police saying that they were out with Alexander and his girlfriend, and that she wanted a report filed. When Moore arrived, the girlfriend told him that Alexander attempted to choke her during an argument over her cell phone. Moore noted she had a small mark on her neck. She said Alexander told her he would “kill her and have her phone before the day was out.” She said her children were in the vehicle while this was going on.
Athens Police told Moore they had three other incidents concerning domestic issues with the couple.
In another incident, two teenagers were taken into custody last week after they allegedly dropped their pants and exposed their bare buttocks to a woman as she drove by them on Shady Lane at Northwood Circle.
Raymond Von Anderson, 19, 116 Brownwood Drive, Hull, and Michael Tyle Smith, 19, 190 Northwood Circle, Colbert, were each charged with one count of obstruction and public indecency.
According to the incident report, a woman told officer Brandon Hanley that two teenage white males pulled their pants and underwear down below their knees and exposed their bare backsides to her as she was coming down the road in her vehicle. She said she turned around and they exposed themselves to her again. She said they walked off into the woods just prior to Hanley’s arrival.
Hanley drove down the road in his patrol car with the spotlight shining on the woodline until he spotted them. As soon as the light hit them, they began to run, according to the report. Hanley pursed them in his patrol car until they crossed the road in front of him and then gave chase on foot, while ordering them to stop. As they approached the woods, they slowed down enough for Hanley to catch up with them, where he ordered them to the ground and arrested them. Anderson stated he was sorry for running and that he only pulled his pants down once.
Other incidents on file at the sheriff’s office this week included:

Several guns were stolen from a gun cabinet in the basement, as well as a laptop from upstairs.
An Athens police officer told Luke that the suspect’s grandfather saw him walking down Foote McClellan Road carrying the firearms and computer earlier in the day and offered to take him home.
