Two arrested after traffic stop on Spratlin Mill Road

The driver, Charlie Darrell Weatherford, 40, 136 Ferndale Court, Hull, was charged with a brake light/turn signal violation and carrying a concealed weapon.

His passenger, Brittany Marie Marquise, 25, 61 Oak Bend Drive, Hull, was charged with giving a false name, address or birthdate to law enforcement officers and obstruction.

According to the incident report, officer William Elrod stopped a silver Acura Integra after he spotted the vehicle with a non-working brake light.

Elrod observed three people in the vehicle and he became suspicious of the way the backseat passenger (Marquise) was acting. She would hardly speak to officer Jeff Vaughn, who was also on scene, but told both officers her name was “Mary Jane.” When confronted, Marquise said “if you’re so smart, why don’t you figure it out.” After being told she was being arrested for giving false information, she reportedly screamed and tried to run away. After a struggle, officers were able to get her inside the patrol car for transport to jail. Meantime, they also found a pistol in Weatherford’s back pants pocket. The third person in the car gave officers her correct identification and told them she was on parole for a conviction of trafficking methamphetamine. She was not arrested.

•Kristen Anne Guest, 26, 226 Edwards Street, Elberton, burglary.

•Kenneth Michael Lessard, 53, 332 Wolfskin Road, Arnoldsville, failure to obey a stop sign, open container and DUI/alcohol. (Comer PD)

•Cornelio Dominguez Martinez, 30, 1465 Hwy. 29 North, Lot A 21, Athens, driving without a valid license and weaving over roadway.

•Leonard N. Peragine, 51, 1525 Hardeman Road, Colbert, hold for Oconee County.

•Canaan Thomas Saxon, 18, 319A North Oliver Street, Elberton, burglary.

•Peggy Irene Sheridan, 44, 1572 Airport Road, Canon, failure to appear.

•Amil Singh, 35, 169 Glenn Carrie Road, Hull, possession of methamphetamine.

•Gage Zoe Smith, 21, 705 Spring Valley Road, Lot 76, Athens, failure to appear.

•Julio Lopez Torres, 31, 28 Helican Springs Road, Hull, driving without a valid license and child or youth restraint not used properly.

•Jonathan Richard Towe, 29, 273 Jones Circle, Royston, prescription drugs must be in their original container, marijuana possession less than an ounce and giving false name, address, or birthdate to a law enforcement officer.
