Todd Higdon became the mayor of Danielsville Tuesday evening, following a special called election in which he narrowly beat his opponent, former long-time councilwoman Junne Temple.
The final vote count Tuesday was Higdon, 70, and Temple, 68, according to election superintendent Sherry Culberson.
“I’m delighted that the election went in our favor tonight,” Higdon said. “It was a very close election but I think the people of Danielsville have made their choice, and I promise to work diligently to maintain their city financially, mechanically and with the police department to bring the city back to what it once was.”
Temple resigned her seat at the council table in February to run for mayor, after former mayor Phillip Croya resigned just ten days after his second term as mayor began.

I hope to see great things out of Danielsville in the days ahead! Having a local business leader as the city leader will be a great way to make our city more business friendly! Again, congrats!
This city can now move forward to where it should be and focus on all employees working together to make Danielsville a better city. I don't know much about how the city Mayor and its council works but...regarding the remark that Junne Temple made in Thursdays' paper "the mayor should act at the direction of the council-it's their decision not the mayor's." and "The idea that the mayor runs the city is just wrong; the council makes the decisions and the mayor oversees day-to-day operations and leads the meetings."....well I would say that is where this mess all started since she also stated that "the main thing the new mayor needs to focus on is working with the council and staff as a "team". Isn't the mayor head of the staff/employees as a team? Good communications between all staff/employees is key to good business. Good luck to our City of Danielsville and our newly elected Mayor
Can't you be a bigger person Junne Temple and acknowledge you lost? Since you stated you have the qualifications and the knowledge to get the city's work done and on a forward moving track, move on, move over and Get over yourself! Why the hostility if you really want what's best for the city?
Contratulations Todd
Myself and Resident Redneck will be available if you need any advice. Our city of Comerville is flourishing due to our city motto being, "Lead, Follow, or the He-- outta the way!"
BUT you know what's going to happen. Now some of the same people who elected Todd are going to turn on him and say we need to get him out of office? Just like when Kip Thomas was elected sheriff? All I heard for a while before that election was how Madison County needed a change in the Sheriff's Dept. WELL more people voted for Thomas and the change than voted for Lowe and the same old sleepy sheriff and now that you got the change you don't like it.
