Ag Day set for March 24

Local residents will soon gather again in Danielsville to celebrate agriculture in Madison County.

The annual “Madison County Ag Day” will be held Saturday, March 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Freshman Academy gym at Madison County High School in Danielsville. Parking will be limited at the Freshman Academy so organizers encourage everyone to park at the PE Complex or in the high school parking areas.

“MC Ag Day is an ag awareness event whose focus is to introduce and educate the general public about different segments of agriculture,” organizers said. “The event will be held rain or shine!”

The day will include a mobile dairy classroom, live animal exhibits: cattle, goats, sheep with a spinning wheel, pigs, baby chicks, and horses and agribusiness vendors. The UGA College of Agriculture departments will be represented: Ag Engineering, Poultry, Entomology and Plant Pathology. There will also be representatives from the Department of Natural Resources and local ag organizations.

Speaking of AG What is the hold up on the new AG facility ? Is it two on the board with the last name Chandler ?
Madison County don't need a Mansion for an AG facility like these two think we do !

I am a senior at madison county high school an I am involved in our agriculture program. An I can understand your concerns on the new ag building and the large amount of money being put towards it. But that facility will have a large impact on the lives of young children not only in Madison county but in surrounding counties as well. Not all children have the opportunities that I myself had growing up I was raised around live stock an showed beef cattle since my fifth grade year on elementary school. Children need to understand agriculture an the impact that it has on your life without agriculture tell me where you would be? You wouldn't have cloths to wear cloths are made from cotton. Farmers grow cotton. What would you eat without farmers an agriculture there wouldn't be food on the shelves in grocery store for you to purchase. I know your sitting there thinking I don't know what I'm talking about. I do. My life revolves around farming an I want to have an influence on the children in the future. Agriculture is so important to our everyday lives.

You are right Agriculture is important to our lives. The question is why has there not been any progress on this facility heaven knows Madison County is long overdue for a facility for all young people to enjoy but there is several that think we must build something that is bigger than anything around and Madison County cannot afford instead of building a facility that can added to later when the funds are available. I highly support Agriculture and a facility is needed now not 10 years from now !

What I can't understand is this thing has been going on for how long now and still no building of any kind ? Just bare ground !

What is a newspaper goddess? I did read the article and your post and did not understand at all. Why would people be scared of Ag Day? I guess newspaper goddesses are stupid so be a sweetie and help me out. Just explain yourself and you will no longer be pointless. Once I get your post, will I no longer be a newspaper goddess?

Whenever I post, I post my straight-forward opinion and then give reasons supporting my opinion. You may not agree with it, which is perfectly acceptable, but I am as clear as a newspaper goddess can be about it. Thanks for this new moniker; I'm beginning to like it.
