Marijuana is an illegal drug.
Now, fake dope is too.
Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal signed a law last week outlawing all forms of synthetic marijuana.
Synthetic pot contains marijuana-like chemical compounds combined with different forms of dried vegetation. The products were sold in gas stations and can be smoked by individuals in search of a legal high.
Georgia banned fake pot in 2010, but manufacturers changed the formula to get around the law. The new bill closes that loophole.
“These synthetic substances pose an enormous risk to our public safety,” said Deal. “As the usage has dramatically increased, instances of violence, bodily harm and even death have risen with it. I applaud the GBI and the General Assembly for their fast work on this legislation, which addresses a pressing need.”
The product is a Schedule I drug under the law and possession and sale is punishable by two to 15 years in prison.
There you go, Nathan Deal is a liar.
Please government, save us from ourselves.
".... instances of violence, bodily harm and even death have risen with it."
Those events are not directly from marijuana use, but from the crimminal activity around the trade in it caused by the fact that it is illegal. I have never used any illegal drugs nor alcohol or tobacco, the two worst drugs, but I understand that marijuana induces profound passivity and the desire to eat. Except for very slow driving, these effects do not impact me as an innocent citizen. Drunkeness produces wild driving, fighting, ugly behavior and sidewalk puking and peeing which does impact me. Tobacco keeps the cost of healthcare higher than it should be through no fault of my own. The cost of arresting, incarcerating and processing drug offenders (not to mention gamblers and prostitutes) is a poor use of my tax money and a waste of law enforcement time and effort. Legalize it all, regulate it, tax it to the hilt and use that money to educate against such activity and to pay for rehabilitation.
My general point is that making stuff illegal creates a whole separate layer of criminality. Running the criminals, along with the druggies, through the justice system, costs us taxpayers a ton of money. Legalizing drugs would turn that expense into revenue to rehabilitate and educate against using drugs (or gambling or prostitution).
Now, if you followed that and disagree with my proposal, simply tell us why you disagree and what you would propose instead. Attacking the honesty of my word is rude and unfounded. It is also unnecessary to use "whoever you are" on this board; nearly everyone is anonymous; therefore, everyone is somebody and you are not to know who so it is entirely irrelevant.
".... simply tell us why you disagree and what you would propose instead." As you failed to do this, we have to assume you have nothing to offer.
" I to[0] often see people wit h purposeful intention make a public display of raising voice or bullying those they disagree with."
Lots of those posts are here, instead of offering their own supported opinions. What do you, MC, think about the topic of this thread, the decriminalization of drugs?
I doubt, however, that "most" voters would vote for decriminalization...which is what you probably meant instead of legalization. Most drugs are already legal in some form.
Your problem in a vote would be twofold. First would be finding legislators who would push a ballot issue. Second would be getting enough potheads motivated enough and who were not too paranoid to visit the polling place on an appointed day.
I would imagine that among meth users alone, turnout could rival that of the last political election.
Regarding your assertation in another thread in this topic, a lot of pot smokers do not only smoke weed. So, saying they don't beat their wives doesnt necessarily fllow. Also, your point that they dont make bad decisions when driving "slowly" is not valid. I was part of the drug problem in Madison County for many years and have driven at highway speeds many times while under the influence of extra potent thc.
If I have been misinformed about the general effects of marijuana on users, I would be pleased for you to share with us your experiences with the effects of that drug. Which addictive drug(s) do you think are the most hazardous to innocent people?
I understand perfectly what you wrote, you sanctimunious egocentrist.
Here is a hint for next time. Don't make generalizations such as the one about drivers who are stoned being less hazardous than ones who are drunk especially since I am fairly certain that you cannot provide statistical evidence of your assertation.
Finally, if your point was that "drivers high on pot generally drive quite slowly, as drunk people sometimes do," then how does that validate your point that "[d]riving stoned is dangerous but not as hazardous as driving drunk...?". Furthermore, the "relative harm" that a drunk can cause to an innocent is fairly equal to that which may be caused by a stoner when both are operators of two or more tons of vehicle.
Honestly, the particular mind altering substance that a person is on is of less importance than what type of character the person is sober. Judging by your posts and how you converse with the others in this forum, I would imagine you to be very hard to abide while drinking whiskey.
So why do think my name should be like the character's on 77 Sunset Strip? Do you have an opinion on this or "other stuff" specifically? Why don't you share it here; that's what this forum is for. Do you have anything to offer? Anything? Anything?
