Ila leaders voted Monday night to borrow $60,000 from Merchants and Farmers Bank for the planned King Street water line replacement
City clerk Susan Steed reported that Don Freeman and Nathaniel Hobbs qualified for a new four-year term for their current council seats with no opposition, so no city election will need to be held.
Mayor Mike Coile told the council that he has invited county chairman-elect Anthony Dove to the city’s November council meeting.
The council agreed to hold the Woodmen of the World flag dedication ceremony at city hall on Saturday, Sept. 13, at 10 a.m. The ceremony will include the presentation of a memorial plaque.
The council also agreed to invite resident William Smith to the October council meeting. Mayor Coile told the council that he had spoken with Smith about obtaining some of his property for a backup well site.
