Black’s Creek Church Road water customers will receive their first bill from Madison County in May.
IDA executive director Marvin White said Tuesday that the industrial authority completed the purchase of the water lines in the Black’s Creek Church Road area from Commerce at a cost of just over $60,000.
The City of Commerce served the west Madison County Black’s Creek area for roughly a decade. But the IDA has expanded its services in the county and now oversees the Black’s Creek area.
The IDA also completed the purchase of a lot in Bryce Landing subdivision at a cost of $6,000. The lot is adjacent to the back of the Hull-Sanford sewer system and will provide a buffer.
Water usage was up slightly last month, though the customer base remained at just under 800 water customers county-wide. The engineering firm Griffin Brothers was expected to start on the Virginia Lane water line in Hull within a week. It is expected to take a week or so to completely lay the 1,800 feet of line, utility director Steve Shaw said.
